I want to do it again (part 1)

Dear citizens of eSouth Africa

This is my official announcement that I will be seeking another term as president of eSouth Africa. As the end of my term nears, I cannot help but feel that there is still some unfinished business I would like to see through. It's been a mildly busy term and I would like to thank my entire cabinet for their hard work and support. A special thank you has to be given to Steven Bosch (Mr Kitty), Sikor3k, Vanessa1309 and Mad Johnson for your support during the last month.

So what have we achieved in the last month:

MU payouts

This week will see the first payout to our military units. I've worked hard to come up with a deal that will be in the best interest for everyone. This is by far my biggest project for the month and I am proud to have got it as far as I have. I would like to continue working on this and tweak it to the point where it works with little effort. Basically we are paying 40% of our tax income back to our citizens via our MU's.

Effectively, this scheme will create bigger and better competition amongst our MU's to have the most active soldiers - compensation is paid to MU's for big hitters and also for fast growers. Allowing private MU's to train up newbies, frees up the government to focus on policy rather than implementation. By using monetary compensation, it will also create some healthy competition for MU's to have the fastest growing newbies and the biggest hitters.

This scheme is designed to be a means of distribution of funds for citizen development, rather than being a purely military scheme. MU's play a much bigger role in our society than simply co-ordinating battle orders.

I plan to monitor the scheme closely over the next month to ensure that the money is used effectively and that it filters down to where it's intended.

Australia training war

We ended the Australia training war a little while before the congress elections. The plan was to return Kwazulu-Natal to Brazil as per our rental agreement with them. More information about the region return to Brazil below. Ending our training war was a success and we even managed to squeeze in a little bit extra at the end. Australia held Limpopo for us during the congress elections to ensure a successful and stable election from both sides.

Without careful planning and good communication, these things have the tendency to go horribly wrong. I am happy that, despite a few minor issues, the training war was a success and I have seen many people earn some medals from these. All in all, we gained from this training war, not only medals and gold, but experience and good relations with our neighbours.

Brazil region return

Preparations were started prior to the congress elections to return Kwazulu-Natal to Brazil as they are renting it from us. One of our stipulations was that it should not interfere with the congress elections and any further loss of regions during the return would put us in danger of not having a congress. At this point, Brazil could not guarantee our safety, but they were also under imminent take-over threat themselves. Between Australia, Brazil and ourselves, we were trying to come up with potential solutions to Brazil's problem without endangering ourselves or Australia. As things were changing by the hour, we had to adapt our strategy for this. In the end, we decided not to go further down this route and called it off. With all these changes, you would have seen constant changes of battle orders and for a while, during the time when we were trying to keep our options open, there was a loss of economic bonuses due to the regions held by Australia. I have apologised for that and hopefully the pain and suffering is long forgotten!

We will shortly be resuming talks with Brazil to return Kwazulu-Natal to them. As with the Australian training war, these things need careful planning and communication and I'm hoping that we have a safe return of our regions. This will also give us the opportunity for some great battles and more medals!

Summary

These were the three major projects for the month. We have forged closer bonds with our neighbours, got ourselves some medals and will hopefully start seeing the return of our tax money to our citizens. If I look back, I can definitely say that there has been some improvement to our country since I started and I want to take this to the next level now.

I have many more ideas I would like to see implemented and I will briefly touch on these in my next edition. My next term will be focused on effective use of government resources to the benefit of all of our citizens.

In the meantime, while the race for the next country president election gets going, I urge every citizen to start thinking about what they want from their next president.

Best regards
