I thought you can tell a difference between a game feature and a bug?

Day 895, 13:45 Published in Hungary Finland by avec

Dear Hungary. I noticed your complaints about Central Hungary battle – how you retreated all other battles before Central Hungary ended, but still Croatia was able to hold initiative and attack Central Hungary again! How was this possible? ZOMG EDEN using bugs!

Well no. Let me show a few print screens :

First, here's the battle history screen:

There you can see the order in which battle were secured or conquered.

Then, another print screen from latest events:

The same again! First Croatia attacked Northern Great Plain, Hungary. Hungary retreated it immediately, and then battle for Central Hungary ended. All logic would say the initiative should go to Hungary now, would it?

NO.

It doesn't matter when you retreat the battles. What matters is when the battles end, not the retreat time. There's a natural server lag between retreat and battle ending, and it is that when the battle ends that matters, not the retreat time. That you can see in the print screens extremely easily. The latest battle that ended was for Croatia's favour, so initiative goes to Croatia.

The exact same thing has happened several times before, I remember it occurring in WW3 when USA tried to get initiative in the last minutes, but server lag allowed Indonesia to hold initiative. Wasn't it the exact same just some days ago when Turkey gained initiative the exact same way?

I remember when we first asked the issue from admins back in Autumn. The exact words I don't remember, but the response from admins was the one I told above: there's a server lag between retreat and battle ending. You need to take it into account.

It's not a bug. It's a game feature. Learn the difference.
