I'm Running For Congress.

Day 671, 19:26 Published in USA USA by Fionia

This article, as you just might have guessed by the title, is about me running for Congress. I'm am running in the state of New York.

I'm asking you to vote for me not because of what I've done in eRepublik, but because of who I am as a person. I understand if you are hesitant to vote for me due to my lack of inexperience. But just hear me out:

Me as a Person: IRL I am a high school senior in New Hampshire. I am intelligent, articulate, and dedicated to what I do (6 AP classes, 7 extracurriculars). You might think that this means that I have little time for an online game, and you would be partially right. But whenever I am on the computer, I am multitasking. I can go back and forth between reading eRepublik articles and writing English essays easily. Since I have decided to get involved in this game, I have found that it is very interesting and fun, and when I actually enjoy something (unlike homework), I will find time to dedicate to it. So basically, time is not a huge issue for me.
Personality-wise, the most important things that you should know are that a) I am civil b) I am open-minded and c) I can't lie.

a) One of the reasons why I have become very annoyed with real life politics lately is the incivility of it. Political debate is not about yelling until your blue in the face and not letting your opponent get a word in edgewise. It should not be about hurling around criticisms, insults, and lies that are vicious enough to draw blood. Political debate should be about calmly and LOGICALLY making your points, and listening to your opponent's points. Cause if you actually listen to someone's voice besides your own, you might find that they are telling you something you haven't heard before, or saying something that you agree with. I cannot stand seeing incivility, and especially not on the Internet. I do my best to stay polite at all times, even if I am pissed off about other things, and I promise to continue doing so.

b) This point is related to point a. Let me simply say this: I listen to other people's ideas. I know that I do not know much about this game. I am willing to learn and to listen, and to change my own opinions if sound arguments are presented to me.

c) This is completely unrelated to the other two points, but I feel it is still relevant. I can't explain this very well, but I have found that the only people I can easily lie to are teachers. If I try to lie to other people, my conscience will kick in...and hard. If I do lie, I usually end up admitting that before the person that I lied to has any idea of what I did. In other words, I am straightforward. I say what I mean. If I say I am going to do something, then I will do it, barring unforeseen circumstances.

So there you go. Three relevant points about why, despite my inexperience, I believe I am fit to be in Congress.

Goodnight, and see you again soon.
