I'm Drunk on Technology Right Now

Day 943, 00:07 Published in Ireland Ireland by Edana Savage

Friday afternoon Chicagoland in RL was hit by a monster storm. Hurricane force winds wreaked havoc in a line that streached in excess of 800 kilometers north to south. Of course, I was outside when it hit. 😃 Where else would I be? *scoffs*

The air was heavy with humidity and a blistering 33 Celsius. I love it that hot. It's my favorite time of year. The hotter and more humid the happier I am. I don't even own an air conditioner.

Anyway.....

It was beautiful. The squall line was all lavenders and pinks with streaks of silver, a roiling mass of clouds in beautiful chaos indicating extremely high winds only a few hundred meters overhead. It was moving in excess of 120kph and was past me before I knew it. Then the ground winds picked up bringing with it the wind, glorious lightening and torrential rain. It felt so good!

Weather geeks call this the stormgasm. I'm serious. It's an actual term. Very apt. If you have never experienced one you don't know what you are missing. Although, I would caution you that this is not for the faint of heart or for those who do not have a healthy respect for the storm. Doing this could get you killed, but usually not.

After I get what I want, I go inside.

I was at work when this happened, and went home a couple hours later to find the power out at my house. It was out for a total of 32 hours! I live in a very populous area. This was quite unexpected. I expect this in the technological abyss out in the middle of BFE, but not here!

So yeah. Powers back on and I am drunk on technology at the moment.

So if you were missing me, that's why.
