I Like Pies

...Which is why a spent a couple hours collecting bitter sweet data to cook them. You see, my commander Macubex8 always makes these pie charts that everybody seems to enjoy, so I thought I’d take a whack at it, but with a different twist.


I collected data from the MU ranking page of every erepublik country. I have a couple concerns about using MU ranks, but unfortunatly they're about all erep has to show. For starters they only show the amount of kills each MU makes, and while kills are all good they don’t necessarily win wars; damage does! That being said, kills do show a more accurate representation of active citizens, since a new player has the potential to make as many, if not more kills as than an older and stronger citizen. Basically one country can have very few strong citizens, and it would (by these stats) appear weaker than a country with many not so strong citizens, which is why they can potentially be misleading.


My bigger concern is that the ranking page will only show me the top 5 MUs of each country. This isn’t so bad for the smaller and even medium sized countries who’s top 5 easily represent 75%-100% of their total kills, but in larger nations I have no way to gauge just how many kills I can’t see. (Without getting too fancy at least) My only reassurance is that there are “big” countries in each alliance, so hopefully the lost kills on each side cancel one another out to some extent. Even so, ONE tends to have the bigger nations as their members, so you could assume that their actual numbers would be a little higher than as shown here, in comparison to T/EDEN’s.


Despite all that I still believe these pies give a fairly accurate snapshot of what’s happening. Just remember to take it all with a grain of salt. I’ll leave interpreting the actual numbers up to you readers 🙂


There's just a couple things I'd like to clarify before posting everything. The * means that country isn't a member nation, but it's listed as being "pro", without belonging to an alliance. As for determining national affiliations, I took info from Uxini's most recent article, which tends to be the most up to date. Canada's a member of both EDEN and Terra, so we were included in both pies. When I did the pie with every alliance, I had initially just given half to each, but the map I generated didn't like that idea so I tossed a coin and gave it all to Terra 😛


I would highly recommend you just visit the GDoc where all the data is. You’d get a better sense of the numbers, and the charts are interactive; it’s pretty cool 😉
