Join the new world

Independent: “a person who votes for candidates, measures, etc., in accordance with his or her own judgment and without regard to the endorsement of, or the positions taken by, any party.”

I believe in keeping Canadian dollars here in Canada. I believe in sticking by our allies when things get tough. I believe in fighting until the bitter end, regardless of what we may lose should we fail. I believe in hard and boring work.

Does my party believe in all of these things? To be honest, it doesn’t really matter to me whether they do or not. That is the beauty of EPIC in my mind. I know that regardless of what I believe, what policies I advocate, or what spectrum my beliefs fall on that my party will be there to back me up as long as I have in my own mind what is best for Canada. I know that the party cares not for itself at the end of the day, but only to do what is best for Canada, to allow everyone whom is active and engaged and capable to participate and try to be involved in leading do so.

Independence is about being free to do what we think is right. To not be constrained by what others think. By not being choked into submission, stifling the free flow of information and idea’s. By being able to pitch a crazy idea that may get you heckled and trolled until the cows come home the next day, knowing that the party members may laugh at you and rib you on it, but still have your back when the chips are down. By being able to think without any constraints and to not be burdened with a cumbersome dogma. By being one voice amongst many, but still having it heard.

Independence is the lifeblood of growth. Without it nothing would change. Without it we would all just have barcodes stamped on our foreheads and spit out the same words as everyone else. I look to those of you whom like to spam “first” in articles as an example. Without it, this would be one boring place to be because we would always agree, we would always understand each other, and we would always cow to those of us that were our betters. Without it we would not thrive, not punch above our weight. Without it we would simply wither and withdraw from the shining sun above us and cower in the shade. Without it we would simply live to do what everyone else around us does, to not think for ourselves. Without it I would not be able to say that I am dependant on something greater than I am, because without it, I would not be a part of this thing we all play.

Independence can be a weakness, it surely can. As a group of independents though, we bring diversity, differing view points, unique perspectives and interesting thoughts others may be afraid of to the table. As Independents we are all stronger as a whole.

My Party is Independent of dogma, spectrums and group thinking. My party is EPIC.
