I am releasing this anyway

Day 788, 03:02 Published in Ireland Canada by irishbhoy1967
Firstly, congratulations to all those who won in the PP elections and commiserations to those who did not make it. I myself was pipped at the post in The Labour Party. I have served the party in every way I could. I had already decided before I put my candidacy in that if I lost out I would be taking a long break from the game. I had wanted to implement something worthwhile before I left. I wanted to create an environment for a certain type of player, especially new ones, because I felt players with these views had not had a platform to properly explore their beliefs. I had recruited many new players to this project, many of whom were too young to even vote. I would like to apologize to, and thank these players. Sorry I couldn't deliver on our goals and thank you for your support. I have decided after a bit of thought, that I will go ahead and release what was to be our first official article. Perhaps someone in the future can take this project and make it work.

This is the article as it would have appeared, completely unedited.

The Labour Party - Party of the People

Labour is a party where all members young and old get an equal say. It's members decide what direction the party will go and as such there is no hierarchy of power. We encourage our younger members to voice their opinions, without fear of the ridicule that we have seen many times before directed at newer players. We are in contact with new players everyday and we believe that nurture is a better policy than ridicule. Labour will protect new players whenever possible.

Our Views
As already stated the views of The Labour Party as a whole are democratically decided. These were the points that came up most frequently.

1 - Are we still a Socialist Party
We respect the ideals that this party was founded on, and believe they were hugely noble and intelligent ideals.
Labour will always welcome any type of Socialist reforms. Although it looks as though Ireland may not be ready for large scale reforms such as these founding ideals, we hope to re-visit them in future and as a mark of respect to the ideals of former members we will be keeping the party name, logo, and orientation. Yes we are still a Socialist party.

2 - Foreign Policy

While we respect that Ireland has a lot of hardworking citizens, it does seem that we squabble amongst ourselves too much. Labour would like to see Ireland being a more outward looking country. We are not saying that the leadership of the country does not make efforts on foreign relations, but we think every citizen of Ireland should be encouraged to be an ambassador for the country. We would encourage the people of Ireland to take this into their own hands and spread the good name of Ireland. It costs nothing to drop into other nations forums or chatrooms and develop relations.
Now more than ever Foreign Policy is very important which is directly related to our next point.

3 - Alliance
Yes the dreaded "A" word. One way or another Ireland will have to make a decision soon. Labour agrees that we as a nation must be very careful about our decision here. You could argue that we have put ourselves in this position by sitting on the fence for so long.
It's such a delicate situation, or is it? The decision could be made for Ireland soon(hopefully not) and our only choice is which do we join. Labour would believe that if it must be done, EDEN would be the better choice in this situation. The issues Labour would have about joining an alliance are that it could end up in direct conflict with our anti-imperialistic views. Labour is against any form of imperialism and will stand against it wherever we can. However if the survival of the nation depends on joining an alliance we would reluctantly support it. If that scenario were to come about Labour would like to see the leadership of Ireland fight hard for certain conditions.

4 - United Ireland

Labour is fully supportive of a United Ireland. This is a goal that we will never stop seeking. We believe that not enough, or if indeed anything at all has been done to reach this goal. New players are roundly criticized when they come out with misguided statements like "invade the north", which leads to many leaving the game, but the desire for the ultimate goal is still there.

However, there is surely other avenues that could be discussed. One would be that if Ireland were to join an alliance that it could only be on the condition that this alliance must view Ireland as completely and unequivocally entitled to the rightful ownership of the region of Northern Ireland. We are not saying it would work, but at least try, fortune favours the bold.
On the other hand, if Ireland decides not to join an alliance, and would prefer to aid the UK in their hour of need, our conditions for MPP with them would have to be that they hand over the region of Northern Ireland and ask the admins to declare it as an original territory of Ireland. We would rise in population, and show the UK how to fight Imperialism, the very ideal that is synonymous with their nation. We have enough experience in that respect after all. If the UK declines our offer, which they most definitely will, we could then justify joining Eden, having already given the option of Irish assistance to the UK. Another angle would be to strike a deal with the US, so long as conditions were suitable.

-and that's the opinion there if WE invaded. Even if Ireland had the support of every other nation in the world, Labour would only support such action when every other avenue was exhausted, but we want to see action on these avenues. Labour would also view the complete destruction of the UK as a bad thing, our only interest is in the region we believe belongs to the people of Ireland.

The problem is that NO other ideas have been explored or discussed because as soon as NI is mentioned, the usual responses kick off, like "RL issues". Labour will not accept this as a credible response anymore. Is the game not played by real life human beings? Is the game not based on real life nations. If RL issues were not meant to affect this game then why bother naming this country Ireland or giving it the flag of it's RL counterpart. Does the fact that the now powerhouse Poland has risen in population to over 50,000, have nothing to do with their war with Germany, and their RL issues with said nation?

Another common response is, "we don't want it". Labour will no longer accept this as a credible response either. Although we do not doubt our new Taoiseach's integrity for one second, she has achieved her position through relentless hard work that puts the rest of us to shame, she did however make the mistake of putting down Northern Ireland as one of the regions we wish to control. Most agree that this won her a lot of votes, from "2 clickers". And why are these people 2 clickers? It's hardly because of the ridicule their beliefs receive when they air them, is it?

Labour wants to see some thinking outside the box on this issue. This game may be mechanical, that doesn't mean it's players have to be. Stop looking at the problem, and start looking at the solution to the problem.

In the words of the founder of the RL Labour Party, James Connolly-

The British Government has no right in Ireland,
Never had any right in Ireland,
And NEVER CAN have any right in Ireland.

Labour will focus hugely on recruiting new players and if any new players think they belong here they will be very well treated. We will also assist any new player who does not wish to join us.

Also, we believe there may be many experienced players who would have similar views to ours, but have conformed to the conventional way of life in e-Ireland because they have had no real platform to explore these views. We urge these players to look inside themselves and make the brave decision to come over and support this project. Labour will defend these members every bit as vigorously as new players. Brave decisions carry their own reward.
