How To Fight: The new citizen's guide to not dying. Part 3

Day 1,189, 16:14 Published in Pakistan USA by johnpauljones

War is an integral part of eRepublik. At first, fighting in wars can feel like an overwhelming concept at first, but it doesn't have to be. Over the course of a few articles I as Minister of Defense aim to teach you what's on the battle screen, how battle mechanics work, and where to go for any resources you need to fight. Unfortunately one article pushes the limits of sanity and becomes tl;dr. This is the third and final part. Part 1 can be found here. and Part 2 can be found here. Also, thanks to Blank Keating for letting me use his format. They're the best tutorials out there.

Part 3
Healing

There are three ways to regain your health after fighting. The first is rather simple: eat food. You are allotted 300 health per day from eating food. Go to the marketplace, select food, choose a certain quality of food, and buy as many as you need to get your health back up. Once you have food in your inventory, the "Eat food" button underneath your health will light up. Self-funding all that food can be tough to afford long-term though, which is why military units exist to supplement your lost health with free food. They do this by having soldiers work a food and grain companies for minimum wage, and then donating food to them so they can fight and use some or all of their 300 food per day.

The second, and free way to heal is to use a hospital, it's a complicated process though. Hospitals are placed by the President in regions they feel are important, or they expect to be attacked. Defending Pakistanis can move to the contested region and get specific amount of free 10-point heals from the hospital. You must reside in the region that has the hospitals in order to use them. Unfortunately, it's a little more complicated than just using it. Hospitals can only be used in a certain mini-battle(s), set by the President who placed it. Here's how to find and utilize a hospital:

You can see that Qinghai has two hospitals, one will be used in Round 6 and the other in Round 8.

The hospital button will replace your food consumption button on the battle screen, with how many uses you have left in a little bubble in the corner of the button. Once the round is over, or all the health is used from the hospital, the hospital is destroyed.

You can find available hospitals in all active battles aggregated here:

The third and final way to heal is with Wellness packs. Each pack costs 0.5 gold, and heals for 10 health. These can get very expensive and I strongly urge newer citizens not to use these, and to save all their gold. There are better things to buy with gold than wellness.

OH GOD PLEASE DON’T KILL ME

Don't worry, you can't die from fighting too much. The game will stop you at 20 health if you try to fight yourself to death. What about defending you ask? When you head out onto the battle screen, the game takes a "copy" of you. It reads your best weapon, your skill type, current health, and your name, and replicates it for the other team. It is not a true player vs. player combat system. You're not really fighting the actual citizen, you're fighting their stats, as they will to you. Defending is done by your shadow self, you have no say or drawback from it. You'll never have to have the worry of someone blowing you up with a launcher, only you can blow up them.

Congratulations, I hope you found this tutorial helpful. I have no doubt that each of you will become tomorrow’s great fighters.

I believe in you, without realizing.
