HOCKEY!!

Day 2,271, 10:54 Published in Canada Serbia by Sally Willis

I'm no sports fan, that's for sure. But I do excited about big international sports events and the Winter Olympics has just started and that has roused my shouty sports Moose. Although not actually a citizen of real Canada, I shall be loudly cheering on the men's and women's teams. Could there be double gold? Can the men repeat Vancouver 2010? Will the ladies live up to their promise? It's a lottery, I tell ya!

So why all this bluster? Hockey is all about MOAR fight!

I am minded, in a spirit of Moosey goodwill to announce a competition. It is entirely my idea and I am funding the prizes on offer, although I invite anyone to offer tanks, food, or gold to boost the prize pool. If you wish to donate, post here what you have donated, and I will update the prize breakdown accordingly.

So what do you have to do to win a prize?

Simple. Make a post listing your prediction of the gold, silver, and bronze medallists for both the mens' and womens' ice hockey competitions in Sochi over the coming fortnight. To help in processing the results -- and to add to your chances of winning -- you may add a fourth team name for 4th place. This is explained in the rules, below. Finally, to help get a clear winner, you will have to predict the total number of goals the Canadian team will score through the whole competition. But first, what prizes am I offering out of my own pocket?

There will be 3 prizes.

First prize is 15 gold + 50 Q6 tanks + 1300 energy *(+ 50 Q7 tanks)
Second prize is 5 gold + 25 Q6 tanks + 650 energy (+ 30 Q7 tanks)
Third prize is 25 Q6 tanks + 650 energy (+ 20 Q7 tanks)

* Thanks to Pickles Patriots for the donation of 100 Q7 tanks to add to the prize fund.

The rules.

1) Entry to the competition will close at 23.59 on Wednesday 12th February eRepublic time. Entries made after that will not count.
2) To be a valid entry, contestants must vote and list their choices in the following format:-

Men - country A, country B, Country C Country D
Women - country A, country B, Country C Country D
Goals - #number#

The order of the countries will be taken as A, B, C, D is equivalent to Gold, Silver, Bronze, 4th place

3) After the mens' gold medal game the results and entries will be tallied as follows:

Gold medal correctly predicted - 6 points
Silver medal correctly predicted - 4 points
Bronze medal correctly predicted - 3 points

Gold/silver medal out by one place - 3 points
Silver/bronze medal out by one place - 2 points

Nominating any medallist not otherwise accounted for - 1 point (your 4th place wildcard!)

The maximum score is 26 points for correctly predicting all 6 medallists.

In the event of a points tie for any prize, the entrant's prediction of the Canadian team's total goal tally will be used in the following way. The prediction closest to the actual number will win. If still tied the prize shall go to the entrant with largest number of high-scoring predictions.

In the event that a tie still exists I guarantee that the prizes will not be divided. If there are two 1st prize winners under these rules, each will get a full prize and 2nd and 3rd prizes will be unaffected, and so on.

4) It's my competition and my rules. I am the sole arbiter. I've been the Captains of Industry Tuesday/Monday fights for some months. My decision is final in all aspects of these rules. If you enter and win, you will get your prize.

5) The competition is launched entirely on my own initative. Any individuals or orgs who wish to support are welcme contribute funds or materiel to the augment the prize fund. Any such contributions must be made by announcements as comments. As soon as I am aware of the donation I will make an announcement of the new prize structure. The number of prizes shall, however, be limited to THREE: 1st, 2nd, & 3rd.
