History With the Shepherd 01

Day 2,145, 17:52 Published in Norway Denmark by Joshua Morriseau

Gather around my sheep, the Shepherd has some stories for you. Here in eRepublik we ourselves have so much history that has been forgotten. Many nations have made efforts to preserve their history through wiki pages but sadly a lot is lost simply because the man power isn't their to keep it updated. Through a series of articles I hope to share with all of you some of the events, wars and people that have shaped our eworld.

USA-Canada War (War of Nave's Toe)
Some may find it hard to believe that good friends and allies Canada and the USA were once at war but that was the case way back in the spring of 2011. This was also coined as one of the first major conflict in eRepublik history. It began on April 11th with the confident American invasion of Canada and lasted just 15 short days ending with a signed peace treaty by both sides. The USA was confident that it could extend its empire beyond its traditional borders and that Canada would be an easy war with little resistance however that proved obviously to not be the case. Canada was down in the first days of the war and eventually had retreated to just one region but freedom fighters from around the world came to the Canadians aid and changed the tide of the war. Their were many nicknames given to the war such as the US-Canadian War, CanAm War or most notably the "War of Nave's Toe." This name comes from an article by then President Nave Saikilah where he brags about a battle in which he fought and defeated then Canadian President Faltnor. He goes on to mention in the article that he had stubbed his toe which is where the name comes from however the nickname was used mainly by the Canadians. The end of the war ended with a signing of a 3 month NAP in which no side gave any money to the other. President Nave had in secret however agreed to give 100gold if it remained a private affair however the secret was soon let out for everyone to know. The war resulted in Canada solidifying its power and presence in eRepublik and becoming one of the most active nations in the world after the war.

Sol Alliance
Formed on July 9th 2008 the Sol Alliance was the first Pacific/Asia based military alliance in eRepublik that lasted a little under a year. At its height Sol had 11 members, Bolivia being the last to join and the first member to come from the Americas. Sol is often remembered for the Southeast Asian War Games which was also known as the Sol War games. It was a training war for Sol members and observer members and at the time becoming the largest training war ever with 36 nations taking part. Originally an alliance founded on the values of brotherhood the alliance eventually found itself with many issues like all other alliances we have seen since then. Pakistan was expelled from the alliance after they allowed Serbia (a then Phoenix member) into Asia. South Africa also officially withdrew from the alliance after a PTO had taken place in South Africa. The issue with Pakistan caused big drama within the alliance. Central treasury and org access was removed from most Sol leaders by Hekter. He had called for an impeachment of the Chairman but after it failed removed access. Sol eventually continued to crumble from within and Australia withdrew as well. The last of the members finally decided to come together to dissolve the alliance after most members began to leave in favour of EDEN or Phoenix.

That's enough for today my sheep close your books! Lets go over today's lesson. So today we've learned about a war and one of the earlier alliances in our world. If anything it just goes to prove that nations and alliances have risen and fallen and will continue to do so for the years to come. The USA and Canada have come a long way since their war and both are bound by friendship today in a war against Poland. And the many members of Sol are all scattered and pitted in wars against each other being members of most of the alliances of today including TWO, CoT, NaN, Eden and WOLF. Just comment below and what you would like to learn about in the next issue. Classes will resume three days from now, don't be late!

As always don't forget to V,S&S!

Kind Regards,

Joshua Morriseau
