Here We Come A-Trolling

What is a troll? According to Wikipedia (The Eternal Fount of All Things Useless and Moderately Accurate), "In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts controversial, inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion."

I love trolls, except Zoli (Only he loves himself). I mean there's nothing like a good troll to break up the monotony of citizens claiming first comment or first denied or (I do appreciate this one) USAMAXXXXX.

Its just an experience unique to eRepublik when you're reading through a well-written article with fabulous background research and great reporting, and then the comments: "Good Article", "Subbed", "This guy is a liar and is trying to destroy the eUS", ... And you think to yourself, "What? this guy just sounded so patriotic and gave me such good information, how can he be subverting the internet server I love so dearly?". Thankfully, if it doesn't sink in your thick skull immediately that it's a troll, there's always that helpful soul who posts "😁😁THIS IS A TROLL DO NOT LISTEN TO WHAT HE SAYS". Thank heavens for that guy.

Today, I saw a troll that really made me laugh. It was written in Farsi. It was on every article I looked at for like five minutes. It wasn't even like they were articles anyone of Persian descent would be reading. One was a recipe for vegetable soup, actually may be the one paper in eRepublik with less subscribers than this illustrious publication. Anyhow I'm just curious what that particular troll thought he was doing, because I'm pretty sure that, other than draw pretty pictures with his letters, he accomplished nothing.

The purpose of this article is to encourage trolls. Do not become disheartened because everyone in the eWorld despises you, that the only way you can serve your country is to piss off everyone else in the eWorld. There are some people out there who really appreciate a good troll, just love a wrench thrown into the gears. You know what? I welcome trolls, go nuts on my paper, I don't mind negative publicity, it worked for Michael Jackson (RIP), didn't it?
