Welcome to my new Newspaper!

I have decided to open a new Newspaper in the wake of the eCanadian invasion while there is still a country to broadcast to. I hope to bring you up to date and relevant news on the state of the country in terms of the economy and any active conflicts taking place, as well as occasional news from around the world as and when I come across it.



About me...

I am a relatively new player in eRepublik having come over from a previous MMO that was overrun and destroyed by Chinese hackers around a month ago. I come bringing over 20 years of gaming experience ranging from Tetris to Total War. My early steps in eRepublik were guided by TheDark Ace and as such I feel I owe my loyalty to the UKRP. My current MU is Legion who are a great bunch of guys and have also given me lots of support as a new player. I'd also like to thank the in-built-get-rich-system for making life as a new player in a game dominated by old money bearable.

Let's talk about the eUK!

The War



Currently the eUK is involved in a war against eNorway that has escalated into a further war with eNetherlands and eCanada, a war in which we are in serious trouble. After a series of TW's BigAnt decided to invade eNorway in search of an easy campaign to bring the people TP medals, himself some political kudos & an easy target to drop off some expiring super weapons, he has succeeded in getting us the TP's since we are now flapping at the eCanadians in a desperate attempt to drive them back after they have taken Wales and the West Midlands in subsequent night attacks while what forces we had available were tied up fighting in eScandinavia. eCanada is the strongest of the Asgard allies, and has every right to take steps to defend eNorway, a country that has around 10% the military power of the eUK aggressors. Most people had already dropped their super weapons a long time before their expiration date, and those that didn't will certainly get an opportunity to do so now against eCanada. That being said, we must push eCanada off of our soil and hold on to the eUK, it is a bad situation but it is nothing that can't be resolved with a bit of organisation and the help and support of our TWO allies.

The Economy

The economy is not doing well, prices are low, which means profits are low, & with Income Tax raising from 2% to 5% I don't see things getting better for the average economically minded player any time soon. The war has provided an increase in sales, but the stimulus effect won't last, the supply far exceeds the demand under normal circumstances on the eUK markets at current.

Wages have increased by a third over the past week, but how long this will last unclear, and the poultry 16GBP won't even see you complete your DO before you have spent your earnings.

Gold prices have been stagnant over the last couple days, even with the 30% discount which is currently on purchases of gold, the price has barely moved.

This climate makes it very diffcult for new players unless you use the magical money making machine or spend an awful lot of time not doing anything but working, training and selling your goods for next-to-nothing.

However there is hope! In an interesting article the eUK Home Office News published a guide for how to make the most out of your CC, it can be found here. The basic idea is that Q3 weapons and food give you the best value for CC, however the Q7 versions of weapons and food do more damage and take less storage space respectively.
