Hello America

Hello America!
Well, this is attempt #2 I suppose..after my first article was eaten by the eRepublik monster in a most cruel fashion. So please forgive me if this article should not be up to the standards that you expected or such - but after having lost like two pages or so, well...anyway, lets get started, shall we?
First of all I guess I have to introduce myself, since not everyone might know me. My name is Kokawayoshi Makoto and I am the Emperor of Japan, as designated by our national constitution, as well as former three-times President of this country. Today I have come to America with a message of friendship and the hope of being able to revitalize the relations between our two countries in a positive manner.
When I look back at the American-Japanese relations during the time I have been in the game, there have been constant ups and downs for all that I can remember. When I started, our two countries were pretty much neutral towards each other, ignoring the greater frictions between the two blocs of PEACE and Atlantis. This always seemed special to me, an Atlantis nation and a PEACE nation almost being on the brink of cooperation even while the powers that be wished to see each other annihilated. That is my first - positive - memory of the relations between our states.
Then, our relations became a bit more of a problem when Mexico got invaded and Japan, being in pretty much the same situation as Mexico was, being a small nation amongst big powers, feared that it would suffer the same fate. Things began to look a bit brighter once more when Emerick became President of the United States. Until, of course, the Kyushu Incident.
Now, I have not come to renew old hostilities or anything or to justify what happened back then. But I wish to use this opportunity to tip my hat to Emerick for understanding the situation Japan was in back then and even later on saying that he doesn't hold Japan's actions against it. That is what I consider a truly great statesman and leaders from all over the world should take note of Emerick's example, for he has shown himself to be both a wise as well as a benevolent leader.
As Emperor of Japan, I do not lead the government or decide on the actual policies of it, for I am a cultural and spiritual national figurehead. I do however speak with sincerity when I say that all of Japan wants to start getting into a dialog with the United States again to reforge these unique relations that we used to enjoy. All relationships have their ups and downs, and I am confident that there is a genuine will to make things go the 'up' route once more here in Japan. I for one know that all presidential candidates in Japan have shown keen interest in reforging ties with the United States and its people. And as the Emperor I ask you to give whoever may lead the new government the chance to do that.
Finally, I would like to thank the many Americans whom I talked to in private on IRC, Skype or wherever for the enthusiastic support that they have displayed for the monarchy here in eJapan even though it is a concept that is fundamentally incompatible with the American system of governance and the national values of America. This display of tolerance for other approaches and cultures is something which I sincerely welcome and is also the reason why I have confidence that our nations can grow closer to each other once more. So, you American Monarchists out there, wherever you may be, thank you for your kind words and friendship!
I am looking forward to continuing this dialog with the American people in the future that is to come.
And now, something entirely unrelated to get away from the serious mood of this article:
Taken by me around two weeks ago here in Tokyo. This time on a PRC-compatible image host, too!
10PM...time to fetch some food, I suppose!
The gods bless America.
Kokawayoshi Makoto
Emperor of Japan

first thing I thought of when I saw the title: "Hello America. This is your president, John Henry Eton."
Sorry to disappoint. 🙁
wasn't saying I was disappointed, just saying that was the first thing I thought.
Let's hope for good relations across the Pacific!
Also, those are my favorite signs in Tokyo! My favorite is 庭でやろう! ("Please do it in the yard!") It's a guy swinging an umbrella like a golf club on a train platform while it snows.
There is a lovely swine flu related sign in Fujiyoshida in German - I'll upload it one of these days.
oh hai
I don't hold Japan responsible for what Indonesia did. You couldn't realistically stand up to Indonesia, so you did what was best for your country. The Aussies did the same thing.
Also what is that picture? It looks like the guy is trying to cop a feel.
Heh, yeah, that is what it looks like. nice article, I hope Japan and America can forge some great bonds.

Hello America.
@johnpauljones: It means, "No horsing around here. It's dangerous. Save it for the beach." Or something to that effect.
Praise the Emperor! Ten thousand years!

~hyuu~
In Beta and the first few months of V1, Japan and America were even Allies and good Friends. Untill the world got split up by Atlantis which lead to PEACE and the rest is History.
^ Oh look, an ancient ~hyuu~ ^
After the war was over, and the tide began to turn in EDEN's favor America decided to embark on a daring quest to liberate the 3 "Pillars of Asia", Hello Kitty, Lion King, and Kartanaka. Three extremely well fortified and economically important regions that were at the time under the occupation of Iran, Hungary and Indonesia. This plan however, required the eUS to enter Asia via Kyushu, and without hesitation, war was declared and Kyushu attacked. When the attack failed due to massive PHOENIX support, Japan was criticized for not allowing the liberation of China take place.
For a brief moment in time, all eyes were on eJapan as their Prime Minister issued an ultimatum to the PHOENIX nations occupying China, to return all regions with the exception of Heilongjiang back to China, with the threat of pushing the retreat button during the next battle for Kyushu. Clue #4 can be found in this ultimatum.
