Day 2627 of the New World
January 29, 2015
So Resource Wars is in day 3 and it still looks like that.
A few things are going to fall out from this.
First, kiss Epic battles goodbye for about a week.
Remember, Plato’s new Epic formula is not static. It takes into consideration all of the damage done in a Division over the past week. So the epic amount of damage that was done on day 1 of Resource Wars will effectively make an Epic battle almost impossible until day 2630. If you are an Epic Battle hunter, go to sleep until then.
Second, there will be more than one eNation which will set its sights on eUSA as a target.
Several factors combined to enable eUSA to secure 100% resource bonuses in all three industries. It helps that eUSA has the most regions in the game, but that is not really the story. All it takes is 15 regions to have 15 resources. The trick, in Resource Wars, was to win early and often.
And eUSA did exactly that.
The White House had carefully orchestrated with Congress and several allies so that eUSA was able to launch 5 offensives at once. The coordination of that was impressive.
But then those battles had to be won quickly. Resources were being claimed by Nations in a “First Come, First Served” system. Romania was also highly organized and several of her battles went Epic in the first round after Reset. Because of the new Epic rules, this meant that Romania could complete her campaigns faster, start new campaigns, and speak for the rarest resources. Hungary was right behind Romania with a couple of Epic battles of her own.
That is when Wild Owl marshalled the available forces he had (from USAF and Easy Company especially) and started using massive Combat Orders to encourage the eUSA Battles to go Epic. As soon as this happened, it catapulted eUSA right into the top 3 in the eWorld in terms of claiming the rarest resources available.
Those who claim eUSA got full bonuses because she has 50 regions are incorrect. Having 50 Regions just means we will end up with lots of amber waves of grain. The reason eUSA got 5/5/5 is because our Executive, our Military Units, our Tanking citizens, our Congress, and our Allies cooperated, and because eUSA had the War Chest to draw funds from so that Wild Owl could act at a moment’s notice to accomplish this great feat.
But in the end, it means that we have made ourselves a more desirable target for airstrikes and invasions. Who will be the first to come?
Third, Pacifica just got stronger.
Not only was eUSA able to secure rare and full resources within its own regions, she was also able to score some key victories for her allies. Clearly, eUSA’s top priority was full bonuses. But secondary goals were accomplished as well. The Pacifica Alliance proved to be a true alliance – Nations working together specifically for the greater strength of the Alliance itself.
So was Resource Wars a good thing?
It increased consumption for a few days. I guess that’s always good. It created an opportunity for Nations to forge cooperative strategies. That’s always good. It gave Nations at least some sovereignty for self-determining what resources they wanted to pursue – at least according to their ability to do so. That’s good.
And this event was good on another level. In the past Plato has introduced his various hare-brained contests where citizens are shooting carrots at each other and killing giant Cupids…
Not Resource Wars.
This event satisfied my primary interest: it was more or less organic to the game. Sure, it is odd to think that a certain geographical region could suddenly change the resource it was capable of producing in real life, but this has happened here before (remember Diamonds?) and it is understandable in a game.
No, the way Plato went about reassigning resources was different than the way he has done things in the past. This time, it was all about Nations, Politics, Militaries, Fighting, Strategizing… all of the things we play eRepublik for to begin with.
So I say to Plato:
Bravo!
Hell Broke Luce and I loved it.

well done!
congrats..
but not really fair some countries to have 50 reg some to have 1...
for example romania could have had 100/100/100 in core easy if we had 15 regions instead of 9 🙂
dohhh but if we talk about fair, Romania is smaller in rl then some USA states or Rusia provinces etc (i know i am rl Romanian). So is inflated for this game because was the initial highest population of players.
They done eUSA as this at the beginning with the purpose to attract as many $$ paying players and they succeeded well.
Question is now if is worth changing the already ingame facts, reduce eUSA at 20 or so regions, twitching other nations to more or less regions as well, but considering eRep company has a new game hard to believe they will bother
US regions are based off our real regions....the "States" in United States of America....they are an inherent part of who we are as a country. Each one is just as a part of us as Oltenia or Bessarabia are to Romania.
This of course, my opinion as an American citizen... Both IRL and out.
yea...but that isn't the way Romania is split.. those are the names of our ancient regions 🙂
Doesen't seem fair if you are little you don't have access to resources.
nice article 🙂
Well written, enjoyed reading.
★★★★ Baaaa ★★★★
Well it would have taken an epic fail for the USA not to get full bonuses and yes the number of regions are the most important factor. After all if you don't have 15 or more regions you can't have full bonuses no matter what you do.
The real race was only for 2-3 rare resources and the rest was only a matter of having the battles start on the first day so they end by the second. So if you had the second vital requirement an above average size population then you were in the running unless you're Argentina.
Romania obviously knew about it earlier and had prepared as is evident by the AS of Singapore (Romanian PTO since forever) to Moldova 1 week before the announcement.
Lastly, the bad news is that USA will now become the prime target as it offers full bonuses for the price of one RW to whoever occupies it, Serbia is drooling over it already and with the attack on Indonesia recently which has alienated all former Aurora countries to a great extent the support base is very thin right now. The alternative is that USA will get filled up with foreigners and the PTO/ATO wars will begin anew.
As for the admins, they're as dumb as ever, this idea is good in principle, couldn't be executed any worst.
eSerbia can be 15/15 with a lot less effort then traveling to eUSA but offcourse they can do it for lols
The travel is once, then they just stay, it's much easier to keep only one country occupied and restart RW counters then to do it with 3-4, having choke point regions that connect to the capital and so on.
This is true not only for them though but for any of the big countries, it's just easiest for Serbia to do as they have the biggest population.
You guys keep forgetting that servia will need a direct root/link to eUSA so that means it has to occupy other countries too.Spain or China or Portugal or Canada would be the biggest threats. In the end of the day anyone can Air strike eUSA just for fun 😉
lol
Interesting info. However, I still think they have the ability to manually turn a battle epic. 😃
CURRAHEE!!
Props to Wild Owl and the administration for their successful strategic and tactical execution of this eUS victory.
"But in the end, it means that we have made ourselves a more desirable target for airstrikes and invasions. Who will be the first to come?"
This will be interesting to see.

Voted! Great article! Plato actually did something right for a change, for that I have to applaud him. As you mentioned, cooperation was a huge factor in this event. Players, and countries that would cooperate and strategize together would gain an advantage and benefit from it right away. It wasn't just about damage this time around, everything had to come together for the best possible outcome.
'Merica
I second this motion
Third it...
It was decent strategy, though quite a few central European countries did get their rare regions secured before the USA. I think the stretch will be too big for any serious invasion against the USA for the balkan countries, especially when considering the locations of what they lack most (cattle, clay, other housing shit) within Europe itself.
Our friend Russia faces some bigger problems though.
I wonder if we will now see eUSA renting regions to our allies.
That would not be advisable. From my months in the NSC/USAF I have a very strong feeling our allies would have to invest significantly to keep these regions against the TP/FF zombies. We have a very great deal of TP/FF zombies that are immune to tactical damage direction.
CURRAHEE!
Congratulations my friends!
And thank you for the major support you gave us!
Now the taxes will get even higher because of the fear of executive, and probably even dumber foreign policy!! Unless Arg or Poland save us LOL
I had no idea this even happened.

Send Canada tokens please so you can use us as bait...... "You don't want us, take Canada instead."

I'm going to steal a copy. I've been two clicking and I wasn't sure what the big deal was.
Voted so hard that I wish I could unvote to vote it again.

CURRAHEE
you can do that
Hail Pacifica
Hail Wild Owl and his administration!
i wonder how many more ways plato will find to nickle and dime us to death before we call it quits.
we will never call it quits.
well..... I quit !
(several times)
CURRAHEE o7
It has been a pleasure finally working with an organized fighting unit again. I'm sure Plato will find other ways to mess things up, but the players keep having fun in spite of him. I was skeptical, but have to say, "well done"!
CURRAHEE!
CURRAHEE o7
If some country is so stupid that they plan a long term occupation of eUS for resources then go ahead. The resources that they want is in the middle of the country, so even if they only need to grab one they will have to spend at least a week fighting their way to it if they win every campaign. Airstrikes only give 10% bonus since there is no trade route, so it wouldn't be a good way to go about it for them either. Then they have to continue to do this over and over again to reset determination while having heavy COs to fight off RWs constantly while also having regions in Europe to protect.
CURRAHEE!
