Happy birthday Indonesia from Belanda!

As some of you may know i am half Belanda, half Hungarian, born in Den Haag, the most Indo town in Belanda. Even as a kid I was crazy about Indo food, and on my birthday I usually chose to eat at an Indo restaurant. We have many in Den Haag, but two I distinctly remember are Raden Mas and Garoeda. So I practically grew up on lumpia's )) My best friend and I share the same birthday, so we always joke that we are twins, although he is actually 17 years older than me, and he is half Hungarian as well, half Indonesian, and he was born is Soerabaja. His father was a hungarian seaman (yes, we have those, even without sea) and met his mother on one of his trips around the world.

There are now close to 1 million people in Belanda with at least partial Indo heritage, and some families are so mixed that one child can have blond hair and blue eyes, and the other can be completely dark.

^ This is probably now our favorite "kroepoekje": triple olympic swimming champion Ranomi Kromwidjojo. "Kroepoekje" (little krupuk/kripik) is Belanda slang for pretty Indo girls, since Jos Brink, a maho himself by the way, who ran a very popular TV show in the 1980's called his assistant Sandra Reemer that way.

az indonez konyha az egyik legjobb a vilagon, rendkivul gazdag, szinte minden szigetnek (es van belole vagy 14 ezer, kozel feluk lakott), varosnak, falunak megvannak a sajat jelegzetes receptjei, izei. raadasul nekunk magyaroknak fekszik a csipos, de nagyon erdekese modon tudjak kombinalni peldaul az edessel vagy pont a savanyuval.

a sambal oelek-et hollandiabol szerzed be? mert az a regi indonez, hollandon allapulo helyesiras szerint van irva, indoneziaban ma mar sambal ulek-et irnak.

erdemes mas sambal fajtakat kiprobalni, van nekik par tucat. en pl. nagyon szeretem a sambal badjak-ot, azt sutik hagymaval, fokhagymaval, es a sambal terasi-t aminek a hozzaadott fermentalt garnelarak paszta adja a jellegzetes izet.

igen, hollandiaban kisebb varosokban is talalhato indonez uzlet, un. "toko". erdekes szo ez, indonezul egyszeruen boltot jelent, hollandban ertelemszeruen indonez boltot, de ma szlengkent barmifele uzletet jelenthet, es nem csak boltot. amugy egy het mulva megyek haza, de ezek a cuccok mar nagyon hianyoznak ))
