Guess who's running for CP?

Day 1,045, 12:36 Published in Belgium USA by MaryamQ

Hello, eBelgium,

Today I am announcing my candidacy for Country President of eBelgium under the banner of Res Belgica, but I don't want to make party an issue in this election, for I wish the theme of my presidency to be “Eendracht maakt macht/L'union fait la force/Unity makes power.” Because I believe this so fervently, I have already contacted several respected eBelgians, regardless of party affiliation, to work with me for the good of our eCountry, and some of them have kindly agreed to serve you if I am elected. I will be contacting more soon, and will gladly enlist volunteers, as well.

With regard to what I plan to do, I will write more in the next few days with more details, but would like to give you some general outlines here.

The first thing I want to promise you is that I will not make promises I cannot fulfill. It is easy to be ambitious and to promise everyone whatever he or she wants, with the best of intentions, but governments do not work that way, either in game or in real life. Of course there will be goals we will aim for, but I will not promise war, for instance, because try as they might, the past two administrations have been unable to make the progress they wanted to provide a war; however, I will promise to use the best advice available to give you the most fun you can get in this game. This is not intended as a criticism of either Theneka or Thore, by the way. This is simply a very difficult thing to do for a small and neutral country such as ours.

Second, I feel that the most important need for us is to nurture new citizens and help them grow to become an active part of our community. We also need to welcome immigrants and integrate them into our community as rapidly as possible to share their talents and experience. To aid in this, I would like to restructure our cabinet and government organizations to make them function more efficiently and to delineate their duties and powers more clearly, and one of my first priorities would be to appoint a Minister of Education and Culture.

Third, I want to assure you that I am willing to discuss any issues, questions or concerns with any citizen or resident of eBelgium. I will answer all messages to me, if not immediately, almost always within 24 hours, and if I can't help you, I will make every effort to refer you to someone who can. I will gladly accept your friend requests, and welcome your comments to my articles.

Working together, we can make our wonderful community even better.

Eendracht maakt macht/L'union fait la force/Unity makes power.
