Good Afternoon, Good Evening and Goodnight

I’m pulling the plug out of my dedication for eBelgium. As a matter of fact, I already did, but I’m announcing it officially now. I am and from now on ‘was’ a member of the Ragoth Administration because I don’t have the feeling I can add any value to it. My function as director of technology isn’t even described. I might have even been a “Minister without Portefeuille”, a term to describe ministers without specific tasks widely used in the interbellum of the 20th century. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of activity in the cabinet and I got quite frustrated. When the new government was appointed, there didn’t seem to be any instructions or structure to make everything run smooth. Everybody had high hopes of the Ragoth administration, including me, but I don’t have the feeling the promised ‘change’ became reality.

I recently became an admin on the forum, which I saw as an extension to my function as minister. But I got to know I had to divide the two jobs and see them as separate things. That wasn’t really part of my expectations. I had my doubts but eventually, after a couple of beers, I removed myself as an admin because in this government-congress-forumadmin structure I can't see the point of it.

I was the negotiator of the eUNL assets. As romper warned me, I made my deadline too short. Because of Deviltje departing as negotiator, and later returning, things got delayed and we only got to a brief sum-up of all the assets and who paid for them. I’m not going to pull conclusions out of that data (which you can find on our forum) in order not to compromise the situation. As someone told me: “Next time the low lands merge, they’re gonna need a better bookie.” What I learned from this is understanding for the Dutch griefs.

Aversion for neutrality. It’s probably the most boring thing to maintain in eRepublik. It’s like the world standing still; no real decisions are made because we have to balance on the frail rope of neutrality. Internal we have had the EDEN-Phoenix mud-fight ending in a utopic détente. On international level we have some frigging training wars and that’s it! Do we really want to continue eBelgium in a way where no hard decisions need to be taken, where everything is handed over to the invisible hand of ‘regularness’, a peaceful place where everything is taken for granted?

Goodbye eBelgium.
