If there is one goal in eRepublik it is the acquisition and wise investment of GOLD.

That's right new players, the one gold coin that you get each level is the rarest and greatest commodity.


The party doesn't last forever

When you hit level 20 gaining new levels will take longer and longer and longer. That initial 20g of rewards has to sustain you for a while so you can develop your companies and make the investments that will increase your flow of the precious yellow metal. With leveling removed as a major supply of your real currency, let's look at the other sources.

The Money Market

A giant gold yen is still pretty worthless compared to REAL gold

As of publication the exchange rate for buying gold is about 2000 Dollars for 1g. On the flip side people are selling Dollars for the absolute minimum of 0.001 gold. If you were to use your 1 gold to buy dollars you would get 1000 which you could then sell and get back . . . 0.5g. In short there is no way to play the market other than taking advantage of a terrible, terrible typo to make gold. You might eventually be able to make enough dollars to purchase gold but it will never be in large amounts.

Mission 9: Your country needs help!
Get a new citizen in your country
Help him reach Lieutenant Rank Level

Find a guy at work. Send him a referral. Make him log in and play the game for 10 minutes. Score some easy one shot gold.

Mission 15: It's time to get a medal
Work for 30 different days to receive the hard worker achievement.

Well, it's a one time reward for getting a medal, which I guess we can get to later.

And . . That's about it. Maybe you'll get a nice holiday mission that gives gold, but those are rare and hard.

This leaves our only method for gaining real amounts of gold to be Medals.

Medals

Now THAT's what I'm talking about!

Of course, not every medal is created equal. Some are easy but time consuming. Some are quick, but hard. Some are hard and long and soul crushing. let's run down the list to find out where to devote your efforts.

Hard Worker Medal - Work 30 days in a row. It's 30 days, but it's easy. And you should be doing it anyways!

Congress Medal - This can be tough if you don't have a few friends you know playing already. To get into Congress in the US you'll need a minimum of 10 voters. What will really help though is getting involved with your party. Make friends, gain knowledge of the game and you might be able to get 5 more gold every month. But the real reward here is being given the responsibility to help lead the nation.

President Medal - This is going to be very long, time consuming, and will demand your full attention for the month after you win. Even if you were to win, the gold offers no salve for the pressure.

Media Mogul - Gain 1000 subscribers to your newspaper. This will be nearly impossible for most people. If you can accomplish this you will join the exalted ranks of the best writers (or scammers) in history.

Battle Hero - Do the most damage in a single battle. For new players I urge you to do your daily orders, save your bazooka parts until you have ~50 with plenty of energy bars stored up as well and then find an early morning resistance war in South America/Asia and let loose. If you see someone competing with you try and PM them quickly to see who can win the race so you don't step on each other's toes.

Campaign Hero - Do the most damage in a campaign.Just like battle hero, but you'll need to bring more bazookas to the battles to ensure you come out in the overall campaign.

Resistance Hero - Start a Resistance War and be successful. This will be difficult for new players because the initial cost can be quite steep and there is no guarantee of victory unless you have advance knowledge of military maneuvers. This will be largely out of your reach.

Super Soldier - Gain 250 str. Normally by training using the basic building and getting the bonus every day you will earn this every 36-37 days, making it less efficient than just Hard Worker. But if you start investing gold into your training facilities you can bring this down. There are detailed analyses out there, but this can be an excellent investment if done at the right time.

Society Builder - Invite 10 people to eRepublik and help them reach lvl 10. Make sure you use your referral link for this because you will gain a percentage of the gold they make. Getting the medal will depend on how many RL and forum contacts you have that are willing to play a browser game with you. But be sure you USE THE REFERRAL.

Mercenary - Defeat 25 opponents for 50 countries. Doing this means you will by necessity have to fight against the USA. This is not hard to do if you fight in battles that we and our allies are losing in by a long margin, but it also means you will have to move around the world and ignore Military orders for a while. It appeals to the play style of some since they can greatly accelerate their gold acquisition rate with this. Since you can defeat about 75 enemies every day with good timing, you can finish the medal in about 17 days if things go well.

Top Fighter - If you are a new player you will probably never win this medal without sinking hundreds of RL dollars into the game. Sorry but that's the way it is.

True Patriot - Deal 100,000 damage for your nation (increases). This is the anti-mercenary, but unlike it's evil twin it gets harder and harder to pull off. The damage required starts scaling considerably after 6 medals but it's good for a sizeable chunk of gold to starting players.
