Goals as President, Joe DaSmoe for CP

My fellow Americans,

First of all, I would like to wish my opponents in this month's Presidential race good luck and I look forward to an interesting week of campaigning. This should be fun guys.

I will present here five core ideas I will govern by during my month as your President. So let's get right to it.




1. Maintaining goodwill abroad.

Many citizens may not understand what it takes to run a country as large and powerful as the United States. The daily operations of running the government are immense, complicated and at sometimes, can be very delicate. The behind the scenes action is complex, and requires constant attention, especially in times of war and global upheaval.

Working side by side with other nations who align themselves with us militarily is key to our growth, our power and our influence across the eGlobe. The rise of the new "third alliance" dubbed PANAM, puts America in a unique position. The creation of PANAM, founded through the hard work of Incumbent President Haliman's state department, is a culmination of many political chess moves. While EDEN still functions as an alliance, America should continue to aid our friends who still live within the alliance. Under my Presidency, we will.

I feel we can balance our obligations to our old friends while simultaneously working on new agendas an opportunities our new alliance may provide us. Striking a balance between the these two entities is paramount and I feel it can be accomplished with continued hard work and strong diplomatic relations with our old friends as well as with our new alliance.

President Haliman is leading us through Iran in an effort to enter the European theater. This war is a bold move for the United States, and I feel we are up to the challenges facing us in Europe. Our nation is blessed with a strong and well organized military. If elected, I will consult with the members of the JCS and continue our push into Europe, so long as its sustainable. I will also seek any other options we may have within the framework of our new alliance and work to decided which path is the right one for our country and our allies.


2. Domestic communication breeds an active and interested population.

For many many months and for far too long, the upper levels of our government have grow distant from our base population. Due to the secretive nature of foreign relations and military planning, many citizens are left out of loop, including a majority of our Congress. Is this a necessary evil? Yes it is, to an extent. I feel our Congress and citizens should be privy to a little more information than they are currently given. If done properly, a President can still convey his goals to the American public and it's elected official without jeopardizing the success of current and future military/foreign relations planning.

If I am elected I will do just that.

When I speak of domestic communication, I not only allude to the need for the involvement of our populous through knowing the how's and why's of our global situation, but also the need to make people feel like they are truly part of the "team" so to speak.

With that in mind, I plan to write to the American population every other day for my entire term. I will address current events, field questions and keep our citizens clear about the path we are going down. I feel the number one job of a President in eRepublik is to be the face of the nation, to be a steward of its people, to lead by actively being involved in the media aspect of the country. I love to write and am looking forward to dialoguing with America on a more regular basis.

3. Include new eager players and seek others to join us

Every President is surrounded by several cabinet members. Although these positions are not recognized by eRepublik's game mechanics, these people fill vital roles in the day to day operation of the government. As I have said before, new players need a niche, something to do, in order to maintain their interest and enthusiasm. With that in mind, I plan to select my cabinet in a different way. I wish to extend an offer to the top political parties of our country. I will ask each party President of the top 10 to select a representative from within their party to serve as a liaison to me. I feel that political parties are the heart of citizen retention and what each party represents will have a voice in my office. Each one of you will have my ear and I will consider your concerns in my decision making.

I also plan to seek out new citizens who wish to get involved by appointing ambassadors to each country we align ourselves with abroad. Working side by side with my Secretary of State, these new players will have the chance to learn the ropes of foreign policy dealings and this should serve to groom players into becoming effective and well known players on the global scene, which will benefit the future of our country. Citizens may also find their niche by working with the Department of the Interior, involving themselves first hand in our number one problem in this game, player retention.

I have recently been actively spamming the hell out of my referral link in an effort to get people to join the game. Sadly it doesn't work to well, at least not in my case. If elected, I will ask every citizen to seek out new players and will continue to do so myself. Recruitment is a tough task for such a plain looking game, so I plan creating a department whose sole task will be seeking out new citizens, and I will pay these people out of my own pocket if they can successfully help America to reach 30,000 citizens. Tall task I know, but I think we can pull it off if we put our heads together.

4. Media Debate

I have been called crazy for this, but I feel we could help people maintain enough interest to stay around by allowing some issues to be brought forth for debate in our media. We have an off site forum for debate, and it will still be the place where discussions happen, but I feel we need to parallel the debates we have there in the media. Obviously not every issue can be handled this way, but many can and will if I am elected. By allowing the true complexities of the game to show on the eRepublik homepage, our citizens will better understand that there is more to this game than logging on, working, training, fighting, then logging off. We have to show them more of the meat and potatoes of the game. We should spark interest, and light a fire under our population.

5. Congressional Communication

I have seen many Presidents come and go in my time here. I have seen some who were excellent communicators and some who didn't communicate at all. I understand that being President is huge undertaking and sometimes this can take a backseat to the daily grind of the job. However I feel that it is absolutely crucial for a sucessful PoTUS term.

While it is true the the President cannot propose legislation, namely tax changes, I feel it is the Presidents job as the leader of his country to present before the Congress the wishes and concerns of the everyday Americans who play eRepublik. I plan to communicate with American daily and I will put forth issues before Congress that I feel the America population need to be heard on. A good President must be willing and able to work hand and hand with his Congress, and I will do my best to achieve this.


There it is America, my five point plan for my Presidency. Five principals that will frame the basis of my administration, five goals that I feel will push the betterment of our community.

My next article will explain my past, my experiences and my reasoning for standing up so strongly for things that I feel will move America in the right direction.
