In eRepublik, it is not money that makes the world go round, but gold. With gold, you can buy and do anything in eRepublik. The amount of gold your citizen is able to generate on a timely basis is critical to your citizen development. Lets take a look at the medals and how you can get more of them because each medal you get gives you 5 gold!

Hard Worker Medal

Worked 30 days.

Not much you can do to speed up this medal. Just make sure you work every 30 days and you’ll earn 5 gold a month.

Factor:
Activity

Super Soldier Medal

Advance 250 strength points

This will probably be the medal that will land you the most gold. Once you get gold, the first thing is to save it to upgrade your boot camp to Q3. With 15 strength as compared to 5 strength gained for free each day, you triple your speed to get this medal. More medals = more gold. Later on, you might want to consider upgrading your climbing center, the one that costs only 0.19 gold to train to Q3. Train with that and you’ll get 22.5 plus 1.8 strength from the daily bonus. That gives you 5 gold every 10 days at the cost of about 2 gold. Great compromise for getting strength and gold if you ask me.

And, before you upgrade, be a coupon saver. eRepublik tends to love to offer promotions on its products. Wait for a discount to upgrade your training center.

Factors:
Ability to save up gold
Ability to wait for a discount
Activity

Mercenary Medal

Defeat 25 enemies for 50 countries.

This relatively new medal gives you another way to earn gold. I did some research on whether this medal is worth it, in terms of food costs:

OK, you get 5 gold for killing 25 enemies for 50 countries.

That means: 5 gold / 50 countries = 0.1 gold for killing 25 enemies in 1 country.

0.1 gold X 2000 (currency conversion rate) = 200 NIS for killing 25 enemies.

That means: 200 NIS / 25 enemies = 8 NIS for killing one enemy.

You get paid 8 NIS for killing a single enemy. Just be sure not to travel a lot. Go to countries (preferably allied with eIsrael) that have a lot of alliances and fight for them!

Factors:

Having the sense to know which country to travel to
Activity
Food production
Weapon production
Economic buying sense (buy low and sell high = buy shortly after reset, sell shortly before reset)

Battle Hero Medal

Reach the highest war influence in a battle

Of the four easiest to get, this is probably the hardest for a new player. The main reason is because it partly depends on luck and the competitor’s mood. I’m fortunate that of the two times I attempted to get battle hero, I have been successful. However, it was close. I got private messages telling me to stop and that the BH belongs to him/her. Sigh, people need to learn to let those less fortunate win some too.

If you want to get a shot at winning the battle hero medal, make sure you obey your daily orders first. You get a bazooka and an energy bar per day if you follow your battle orders. Save up at least 40-60 of them. Build up also your food, and once food is good, your weapon production.

The best shot for a battle hero is to find a low-priority battle and wait until you pretty much know who the BH will be, which is towards the end of the battle. Then, give it all you got! Go big or go home.

Factors:

Activity
Food production
Weapon production
Ability to find a suitable battle
Luck

Conclusion

I hope after reading this, you get a clearer picture of how important gold is in eRepublik. Improving your ability to earn gold is critical for the growth of your citizen and your e-country. So, as I said, go for the gold!
