GLD and the last elections

Day 622, 01:02 Published in Netherlands Netherlands by psandrad

Dear friends,

A short while back, I decided I wasn't interested in eRepublik anymore. I just won the PP elections for the GLD and I was brimming with confidence; the GLD had become one of the bigger parties and thought we could grow even bigger. How wrong I was. I started to feel something fishy was about to happen when only four potential congress-members applied. The elections before the last one, I think we had as many as 14 candidates and Peter Green even had to turn some people down because there were too many.

Some people told me; come on man, it's vacation-period, a lot of people are most probably kicking it somewhere along the spanish costa. And although this must have been true, activity was still at its absolute lowest point: other parties did manage to get more candidates and were more active, not only because they had a larger number of members, but also relatively.

I started to think: hey, I am trying to get something going here, but people just don't care. That's when I decided I wanted to leave. Why invest time in something when you don't get anything in return, right? Some might call this weak or easy, I just call it common sense.

However, I wasn't completely able to let go. I still lurked the forum and suddenly I watched an increased activity. People started to discuss the future of the GLD and some new and promising members started to become active. Whether this happened because of me leaving or not is not important, the fact that it happened is what counts here. Better late then never, right..?

The GLD is a party with its own, unique voice and it definately has a role to play in the eUNL. This morning I realised that it's worth fighting for, and that's why I decided to get going again (triggered by the renewed activity within the party). Some of you might have lost trust in me (which is understandable), but I think we all have had difficult periods in our eRepublik citizenships. It is after all not that different from reality 😉

Together we stand strong!

Best regards,

Pander Sols
