Give Peace A Chance

WAR HAWKS CIRCLING

Once again we stand on the brink of destructive war. For the second time since I began my current tenure in the Dail certain members are trying to force an unnecessary war, this time by proposing Canada as a Natural Enemy if Ireland.

If war with Canada comes, let it come, I will stand with my fellow eCitizens and fight for our country. But lets not be the ones to start it. If this war can be avoided, it must be. We have peace again for the first time in a great while. Some may wish for a war to gain military experience, but if that is what they desire there are ample opportunities to fight without entangling our country in a war that can not be contained to just between ourselves and Canada.

Have you forgotten about this occupation of Ireland? Of the hard fought battle to restore our nation and the difficulty we have had in maintaining it since then? We have peace now, and if war must come, then I say we will face it as we have faced all others. With determination and dedication to our just and noble cause. But there is no nobility in starting an unnecessary war. As the RL soldier Pierre Bosquet said of the famous Charge of the Light Brigade: "C'est magnifique, mais ce n'est pas la guerre: c'est de la folie"(It is magnificent, but it is not war: it is madness).

In the end, to paraphrase another famous RL person, all I am saying, is give peace a chance.
