Fun does not always equal smart

Day 956, 22:11 Published in USA USA by Harrison Richardson

Less than an hour ago, President McSkittles decided to attack Russia. While we have a ton of open MPP's thanks to a GREAT HAMSTA named Hank, we decided to negate that advantage by making a senseless attempt on a region we have little hope of winning today. So, in a rebut to President McSkittles' reasoning for the attack (which are mainly fun and retention, which I get and acknowledge), I counter with this:

1) Fun doesn't always equal smart. You can have fun and lose, or you can be smart and have fun winning later on. Personally, I'm really freaking competitive, so I enjoy winning moreso than having fun by blowing my wad for a few seconds

2) We're attacking on a holiday. I'm not getting on Erepublik at all tomorrow probably, and if I do, it's from my iPhone.

3) We don't know if V2 is going to be an advantage or a disadvantage for our military. We could very well be at a huge disadvantage when V2 comes out in just a few days and now we have 16 angry MPP's on our doorstep.

4) We had a great opportunity to invade Russia if we worked with EDEN. We could have worked with Poland, China, Finland, and other countries for a massive invasion of Russia. They opened a ton of MPP's on the day of Hamstas and instead of using that to our advantage, we decided to blow our wad and invade without any allied support

5) If what President McSkittles says is true, we didn't consult EDEN nor Croatia in our decision. This is a gross strategic error. Abandoning our allies when their original regions are under attack, especially an ally as loyal as Broatia, is to me a betrayal of the very trust they put in us every time we go out to fight for them. If this was a block for Croatia, then it was the worst block in the history of man. Worse than Heilongjiang.

6) Russia has more money than us. We can't win in a tanking war with them.

7) This was decided upon on a whim. Decisions made on a whim are very often the decisions people wish they had back a day later. As a result, the JCS wasn't consulted. Now, no one will mistake me as a friend of the JCS (:3 Goalie), but how do you even consider doing something like this without at least giving them a heads up? Even a "hey, I'm doing this in 3 minutes" is better than them having to find out via the events page. It's disrespectful. These are people you have to work with. I know more than anyone: fights with the JCS get us nowhere as a nation.

😎 We have rescinded in to the short-sighted ignorance that caused us to be invaded last summer. Say what you will, but we were lucky to not be wiped off the map then. The only reason we weren't was because gold was scarce then and PEACE couldn't come up with the gold to attack and win Florida; ain't that hard to get money any more.

Choc makes some reasonable arguments for his attack.. I just feel like these reasons (and the infinitely many more I could think of with the help of others) vastly outweigh them.
