Frustrated with MUs
General Lex Luthor
Hello everyone. A few days ago, I posted an article about Military Units. In this article I expressed my dissatisfaction with the current state of Military Units. I said that I was upset because the game is dominated by military units that are not open and easy to be a part of for the average user. Click this link for the full article:

I have received some suggestions from some people who agree with me that I should start a Military Unit for those who would like to fight for America actively, but are not interested in joining a commune or jumping through hoops (joining a forum, checking in daily, etc.). Now, as some filled me in, there are a few MUs that fit this bill, however it seems most are very small.
My question is, if an MU was created that was open for all players to join, free of hoops, checkins and communes, is this something you would be able to get behind? If so, we would need each member to invest a small amount of gold to get it started, as I do not have enough myself. The more members we get, the less gold each would need to contribute. In the end, the MU would hopefully be a place where the people who want to be active fighters without all the bureaucracy could direct our damage effectively.
Let me know in the comments if this is something you agree with, disagree with, or think I should just shut up about.
Thank you all!

I'm fine but this appeals to many.
It's my custom to ~hyuu~, vote then read. Now that I see you're looking for valid comments and feedback I'll make an effort 😛😛
I'm not exactly in the know about wassup in America, but I can tell you that here in eCanada there are a few MU's who fit this description. I run a MU that requires our members to sign up on a commune, though I tolerate members who join just to benefit from the order of the day and aren't interested in the commune idea. I do refer them to the other MU's that are better suited for their needs but if they wish to stay power to em'. Since MU membership is no longer limited, why should members be turned down for not wanting to participate in whatever it is a certain MU requires of them?
AED is the best!
Well, I can see where you are coming from, but it is definitely in your best interest to be in an MU that communes at your current level.
Right now, you would make just under $150 on the job market. Considering that people of your level do not make much money from companies and assuming that you are aiming for a fairly typical 110-120 hits per day, you would probably not even be able to break even on your current income. You would have to either sacrifice most of your hits or your ability to expand your financial base. If you signed up for boot camp and started communing on the other hand, you would have 100 of your fights per day (last I checked) subsidized by the US government or your MU's communes. At roughly $300 in food, that's already easily more than you could pay for with a regular job. I believe the official military gives out weapons too (not sure if they do in boot camp), which are quite pricey as well on the regular market ($30+ per Q5 weapon).
Signing up for most non-elite MUs and communing does not obligate you to be active in IRC or to participate much at all other than fighting if you do not have time. You will probably check a forum daily, fill out a brief form daily, vote up the DoD Orders, and put in as many fights as you can afford. Communing is good for you, good for the nation, and good for everyone in your MU.
People need to stop looking at communes as a bad thing. They need to throw away the silly notion of "True Democracy" in this game, because when you play a game and you want to win, you need to understand the best strategy to win.
Now, this game is more or less a war module, everyone else is there to support it. To win a war, you need damage. To get damage, you need to spend money. Now, the countries that win have three things: Strong allies, great coordination, and efficient conversion of $$$ to damage.
Communes is the best thing in this game and the most efficient form of converting $$$ into damage. So instead of listening to the bawwwwing of players that do not understand the game and only want to make more personal profit, look towards the greater good and how you can do more damage for this country.
"Communes is the best thing in this game and the most efficient form of converting $$$ into damage.""
QFT. $150 on the open market, or over $500 worth of supply which is what we currently give.
Also, I still do not understand what you are not grasping by saying: "I have received some suggestions from some people who agree with me that I should start a Military Unit for those who would like to fight for America actively, but are not interested in joining a commune or jumping through hoops"
When you have been told you can be a public member of several prominent groups (ST6 included), not participate in the commune, not have to fill out a form, not receive supply, not have to register for a forum quite literally ZERO hoops outside of clicking "Join" in game, and still have your damage directed by an Officer of that group which means you'll be hitting where US interests lie and get you your free stuff and participate in the military aspect of the game.
What you want exists, TO THE LETTER, several times over but you continue to want to reinvent the wheel. I wish you the best of luck. I simply see no need for new players to the game to burn 40gold to create something that already exists.
Thank goodness for communes. They make this machine purr. And it's laughable that another MU needs to be started to "solve" this issue. That's been done many times over with MUs such as Anonymous. And if that's the way you want to play, fine. If you want to be effective however, commune-based militias and a reasonable level of activity make for great "success" in this game.
If communes are the best this game has to offer, its not for me.
