From Rear Admiral to Rear Guard

Day 1,389, 05:36 Published in United Kingdom Belgium by Veruvia

The appointment of Kdoggroundtwo to Minister of Defence is a controversial choice. His period of Admiral of the Royal Navy could be assessed as effective yet strict, a great difference from that of the other branches of the United Kingdom Armed Forces. This appointment is even more controversial if one is to believe the rumours and speculation that Kdoggroundtwo is opposed to what he would term as the elitist United Kingdom Special Forces and United Kingdom Elite Forces. When these two organisations are very much a key component of the British military, any opinion on them is likely to be met with scrutiny and criticism.

His appointment has, even in the earliest days of his term as Minister of Defence, been met with controversy and criticism. He has entered into the office in the midst of a debate on the existing operational parameters of the British military. In his proposal, or rather, the former Minister of Defence's proposal, he argues that the United Kingdom Armed Forces should become a more sleek and efficient unit by merging the British Army and the Royal Air Force into the Royal Navy. Immediate criticism came from a number of Special Forces and Armed Forces members who argued that these changes were aesthetic and that people would vote against the changes because of the choice of name.

One of the most vocal opponents to this change, Darkmantle, highlighted this argument and persisted with the argument through the discussion.

After a long discussion, the voting results were collected and the votes were implied that the majority of the public were opposed to these changes and so this would remain the case.

We could only hope that the definitive figures would end the argument but it was the Minister of Defence's belief that the results highlighted that people supported change. Kdoggroundtwo argued otherwise.

After a number of complaints were raised about the manipulation of the figures by the Minister of Defence, the Prime Minister, Kevy Shabado, intervened and stated that the vote had not passed. The Prime Minister, stamping his authority on the subject, warned the Minister of Defence of his behaviour. Regardless, the Minister of Defence pressed on and argued that the figures were not accurate because Special Forces and Elite Forces were given a vote (perhaps giving rise to the argument that the Minister of Defence wants to see them defunct).

With the war in Ireland raging and the Minister of Defence being fortunate in the first few battles with successive wins in Cork and Wexford, the battle has now truly begin for Ireland. The resistance war in Shannon is being marginally won 5 - 4 and the battle for Mayo being won 5 - 3, there's an expectation from both the military and the public that the Minister of Defence steps up to the plate and proves himself to be an appointment that the Prime Minister will not regret.
