Frequently Asked Questions

Day 1,194, 11:58 Published in Austria Austria by Albert Neurath

Inevitably, all of us get PMs from people, and comments on whatever articles we choose to publish. One thing I have noticed is that, at least for me, several of these messages have repeated themes. Today, I shall try and put to rest a few of those questions, for good.

Question: Who are you?

Answer: Well, since you sent me a PM, you know I am who I am, I am Albert Neurath, and I am not Popeye the Sailor Man (apologies for the joke in advance).

Question: Can you give me gold/food/currency/a job?

Answer: no/yes, if you're new/possibly/no (no companies).

Question: What languages do you speak?

Answer: I can speak English and French, and I can understand to some degree German and Spanish, although not very much.

Question: Why is your paper named "United Thailand" even though you're not in Thailand?

Answer: That's been the name of my newspaper for over two years now. Thailand was where I spent most of my eLife, and I want something to remember it by.

Question: Why don't your articles have pictures usually?

Answer: Most of my articles are about things that are difficult to find pictures for, like "Corporate Models of Governance" and "Political Considerations following the Liberation of Regions from Occupying Powers, and the Subsequent Problems Faced by the Victors."

However, to add more bad humor on top of the bad humor in Question 1, here's a picture of Poyeye the Sailor Man:
