Former Irish Congressman Announces Candidacy

Day 1,639, 13:48 Published in Ireland Ireland by Ronisu

Former Congressman Ronisu announced his candidacy today to return to Congress. He hopes to get the Irish Freedom Party's support for his congressional bid. Congressman Ronisu was last elected to Congress around Day 375 as a member of the Fianna Fail party. He did not run for reelection at the completion of his term due to party complications. The following is a transcript of his announcement:

"Irishmen and women! When I last served in Congress the world was quite a bit younger and things were in fact simpler. A lot has changed in the past few years, but there are some fundamental things that truly never change. Ireland needs dedicated public servants to invigorate the discourse in Congress today, and I believe I am up to the challenge. I pledge to work towards the following goals:

1.) Encourage continued dedication to freedom and the inherent rights of citizens.

2.) Promote a strong military through coordination and work with local military units. Informing myself on military votes by talking to Ireland's military leaders.

3.) Work to promote an increase in Irish citizenship and participation through legislation and work on tourism and publicity.

4.) Transparency of government. I promise to disclose my congressional activity and votes to the public. I take very seriously the concept of being nothing more than a representative of the constituency.

We truly stand as a capable nation amidst an increasingly chaotic world. It is important to value Ireland for what it does well and spread the word of our strengths. I hope you will consider returning me to Congress, but regardless I remain a patriot who will work for the wellbeing of Ireland."

Congressman Ronisu has agreed to handle transparency and future Press Releases through The Causeway Chonicle.
