Day 1,060, 01:45 Published in Republic of China (Taiwan) Switzerland by HuCard

A few days ago, preceding the signature of the free MPPs the admins had made possible between the new countries and all of the old ones, I wrote a number of articles in a few countries to encourage them to accept these MPPs.

These were, and for the following reasons:

Japan - As the land of the rising sun borders us to the north it would only be natural for our two countries to develop diplomatic ties. Unlike previously speculated, Japan does not plan to invade Taiwan. I misinterpreted something their emperor said on IRC/failed to see he was joking, but it has been confirmed from many sides that there exist no plans for a Japanese invasion of Taiwan, and that the country seeks but friendly relations with its new southern neighbour.

Malaysia - Malaysia has always been one of the most proactive countries in the Asia-Pacific region, having often attempted to unite and to pacify the regions in the alliances of Sol and ONE. During the era of the former, Malaysia and the Philippines conducted reliable and popular training wars, and the country possesses Stone and Oil resources (which are currently occupied by Serbia though) making it a potential trading partner considering Taiwan’s lack of High regions. I believe that cooperation with them will help us to establish ourselves in this area and that they have the potential to become a resourceful ally in the future.

Australia - …which seemed like a good idea until I learned that they were currently being PTOed by Indonesia and it was thus a pointless endeavour. Nonetheless maintaining good relations to Australia in the future could benefit Taiwan. It is one of only 4 countries in the world to possess High Titanium resources making an economic cooperation in the future not unlikely, and it is a member of the Brolliance, two of whose other members (Japan and the USA) border us to the north and east, making good relations with them an absolute necessity.

Colombia - Colombia is at the moment conducting a training war with Venezuela, resuming their pre-V2 activity. It furthermore possesses a fair amount of resources - Oil, Stone, and Grain - and could thus be a possible location for Taiwanese Grain importers, as well as a steady and reliable source for training battles if we decide to continue our relationship to the country beyond the expiration of the free MPP.

The Netherlands - I beleive that at least for the time being Taiwan should remain neutral. This means that maintaining relations with all alliances, including Phoenix, should be a priority. Alas, thanks to the new MPP mechanics most of the countries nowadays are constricted in giant wars with more or less the entire opposing faction. The Netherlands, in whom I once served as ambassador to Canada a while ago and whose people left a very good impression on me, were one of the few countries with whom an MPP could be signed without it escalating into 100 wars against everyone ever. As a gesture of goodwill towards Phoenix I think it would be a good thing to maintain good relations with the Dutch, while at the same time they are a small and peaceful enough Phoenix member for our relationship with them to avoid affronting EDEN.

Other countries with which good relations are crucial are the two large powers situated west and east of us, Mainland China and the United States of America. I did not write an article in either of these countries though because it would be strange for a citizen of the Republic of China to publish an article in the People’s Republic of China in English, and because the USA is currently involved in numerous wars and siding with them right now could threaten our relations with other nations.

As a final note, I would like to apologise for my previous article which I deleted by now. It was indeed badly researched and as can be seen I scrapped many of the admittedly nonsensical ideas I expressed in it.
