Foreign Affairs Report: Our sticky situation.

Day 150, 11:59 Published in Norway Russia by Manifesto

Greetings comrades,

Izvestia is writing to report to our comrades the Soviet Union's position in the world, and what actions our government is taking to ensure that our sovereignty is maintained. Since the implementation of the war module, global foreign affairs stratagems have no doubt accelerated at an incredible rate and the Soviet government has been in constant communication with our counterparts.

The Soviet Union is in an awkward position. I cannot stress this enough. We stand right at the crossroads between conflicting superpowers, and our large territories with a thinly spread population are lucrative prospects to our imperialist enemies. For these reasons, many nations feel that the Soviet Union is a liability to share protection pacts with, which obviously makes finding willing allies hard to come by.

There are about 3 military blocs in the worl😛 the Swedish/Norwegians, the Pakistani/Indonesian, and the Mediterranean Union (composed of Italy, France, Canada, The Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, and most likely the UK and Ireland will join up soon). War between the Nords and the Pakistani/Indonesians seems nearly inevitable, and no doubt the Soviet Union will be transformed into a global battlefield. Aligning with the Swedish/Norwegians would put our Southern Caucus regions at risk from Pakistani and Turkish forces and our Eastern border at risk from Indonesian invasion, and aligning with Pakistan and Indonesia puts our northern borders at risk from Nordic hostilities.
With the Northern Alliance nearly dead, we are in a bit of a pickle.

Therefore, the Government of the Soviet Union has determined it the wisest course to maintain a neutrality between the Nordic and Pakistani powers in an attempt to deter any immediate hostilities on our borders and attempt to seek out new friends in Eastern Europe. The Commissariat of Foreign Affairs has contacted the leaders of the Ukraine, Hungary, Bulgaria, Poland, Austria and Romania (Greece and Turkey may be considered too) in establishing an Eastern European solidarity bloc in order to form a united front against Imperialist aggression and deter any land grabs in our region... which could very possibly grow into a anti-Imperialist non aligned movement.
Mediterranean Union has just come to my attention, and I will be looking into possibilities there.

The President of Norway has expressed to me his interest in expansion, and most people foresaw an expansion into Finland. The Government of the Soviet Union is keen to help our northern brothers fight Nordic imperialism, however going into this fight without backup will spell the entire conquest of our motherland. I have contacted the Presidents of Pakistan and Indonesia to see if they would commit their support to fight this aggression on Finland. I will also contact the UK and its allies to see if they are willing to support Russia defend our comrades.
Russia could risk allowing Norway to take Finland, in hopes their expansion would be halted... however I believe I express the beliefs of most of us by stating that we have a moral responsibility in aiding our friends. Furthermore, assuming that Norway would simply stop with Finland is something that we are not willing to risk. They now have a massive cooridor into our motherland.

I will be continuing to publish reports on our foreign affairs situation. The Soviet Government also needs people to act as Foreign Diplomats to remain in constant contact with other nations. If you are interested in the job, please send me a PM. I sincerely hope that through the strength of our comradeship and the fire of our revolution that we will perservere in the face of oblivion.
