For Meissner and the rest : Gold, Gold, Gold...
red-fox
> The government has many thousands of LVL's in the national bank. Our government could easily transfer our currently unstable currency into stable Gold at a moments notice, but they don't.
As a Minister of Economy, I officially answer : NO, we cannot. It's impossible to sell such amounts of cash. Noone needs them. Noone will buy that much. What CBoL got from selling approx 8k of LVL is 50 gold. That's QUARTER of total amount we can get from congress each month. Not to mention, lowerig price of LVL creates quite a lot of stress for our economy. I am doing it once and only because it will reduce harm from Indonesian money.
If you knew a bit of economics, you would understand - total value of 50k LVL does not exceed 150 gold at best. But they are more necessary for a country than Q5 Hospital.
So stop trying to use LVL as a gold. It's our future. It's not for sale.
> Gold that could otherwise go into creating jobs, food, grain, and products that would otherwise benefit the nation as a whole, in short, they would be robbing our nation for yet a second time.
Yep. Building another Q1 Grain companies, buying overpriced goods from foreign investors and similar activities.
WE DO NOT NEED JOBS.
We need quality jobs. And a single Q3 company, the only economically effective Raw materials company, costs 90 gold. It's almost impossible to get such an amount of gold for most "true Latvians". We need to cooperate, to get that much money.
WE DO NOT NEED PRODUCTS.
We need cheap products. If we cannot export them - they are worthless. And to export them we need efficency : high wellness among workers (and cheaply gained), cheap raw materials for manufacture/construction, high quality for grain companies. And to get this we also need cooperation. Educate workers, create network of trading organizations, collect gold.
> A government which has yet to enact any national policies, welfare systems, or in short, anything at all.
Uh-huh. We won't work in government, We won't help government with anything. But we must have welfare. Because government is filthy rich by default. Sure. Let's begin with donating each citizen 20 gold. That's only 12.000 gold.
My own opinion : to get anything from anywhere, first you must put anything there.
At the present moment me (personally) was involved in :
a) reducing price of LVL to protect our market from Indonesia.
b) creating Gold-based market to avoid any influence of currency.
c) testing our military in real combat (some diplomacy, donated 2 gold, also did some organizing)
d) making all necessary preparations for improving economy via building better companies
e) creating opportunity to fight monopoized overpriced products in Latvian market
f) writing articles for those who are too lazy to join government.
... maybe i forgot something.
Also, I arrived in eRep after you, Meissner. What did you do? Let's see :
* low level - you have trouble competing with TO invaders.
* low wellness - you are sabotaging Latvian companies with your inefficiency.
* not a congressmen - 5 Gold have no chance to go anywhere at all. Even to your Latvian pocket.
* no military rank and low strength - you are inefficient in combat.
I think if this continues, I'll simply offer to create salaries for governmet 😃
It's unfair - most of us are donating gold already (and I wasn't even a congressmen last time).

Let's face it most people that donate expect to be repaid..with a seat and you saythat 20 gold is 12000 LVL it's atleast 2000 and atmost 3000. I don't know which ear you pull those numbers out but there completely wrong. As for using gold as a currency that's not so greatbecause the value of gold os different here because of inflation. The only relevent fact in this data is that we don't need goods we need cheaper goods. < OK a four year old could say that. I'm sorry but not that greatof an article.
Yeah.. and creating more and more q1 companies wont give us cheaper goods.
Don't read article line by line. Read article as a whole.
What's does that have to do with the fact that any Latvian could state that we need cheaper goods. Also why would you want to replace our national currency with gold.
No one is expecting to get repaid for the donation of the gold.
"As for using gold as a currency that's not so greatbecause the value of gold os different here because of inflation"
How is the value of the gold different here?
Kāda jēga tērēt savu laiku un atbidlēt tam ņuņakam. Lai taču iet uzkaras vai vācas uz citu valsti - ja jau galu galā te tik slikti.
Gold as a currency is risky because Gold cannot be circulated. Or at least cannot be circulated to an extent which the LVL could be circulated when it comes to the marketplace. Someone can just save up their gold and buy themselves a wellness box. And there's your Gold. Gone with the wind.
I see something is being done, that's a plus, that's great! Making some sort of new Gold vs. Currency system is interesting. Risky, but interesting. I just don't see how this is to add up. It looks like it's being thought out all in the NOW.
But that's where we are...In deep, thick NOW...
But when the now is over what will you have then?
It's good to be in the NOW, but you also have to have some thought into the LATER. If you think about it you're kind of only postponing the problem of the LVL that is currently being had. Instead of working with LVL, you're just sheltering it...
I'm skeptical, but glad to see work being done.
Why doesn't the bank take the LVL instead and give 200 to each citizen this sorting out the problem.
I really don't think that the Latvian Bank having lvl isn't our MAIN problem atm ;o
The funny thing is that the NOW is aways herer and by thinking about the later (that is never here) we are wasting or NOWS 😛
lol
This can go in circles Visvaldis so let's not resort to going back and forth hahaha. ;P
