Fistful of Steel, then a fistful of Artillery. Another 10 days.

Day 961, 18:48 Published in Canada Canada by Etemenanki

So, you guys having fun yet with the new version? It’s been pretty chaotic since the launch happened what with the many screw up’s that beta seemed to fail to shake out. Screw ups like minimum wage. Once we in congress saw the problem with minimum wage, we quickly put a vote in to change it to something a bit lower, like 0.18 CAD which works out to be 1/8th the previous minimum wage we had in V1. Of course since then we have seen that EVERYTHING is going to cost that much more money what with the insane production values that are out there at the moment. Resource markets are crashing like lead weights with massive increased production, manufacturing is booming with fairly low requirements for resources, meaning cheaper costs on that side, but wages are still really high, making products even more expensive.

In my own field, construction, there is nothing out there on the market right now. I am a Guru* Carpenter (level 10) and I cannot find a job in my field without relying on government run companies. Houses still cost an arm and a leg to purchase, have fairly cheap requirements in material costs, but take a long time (ie lots of wages) to build, but only last for 20-60 days now. In short, it’s insanity out there in the markets, and we can’t really do much about it until something, somewhere starts to stabilize. I think we should all hope very strongly that something stabilizes and soon.

My Votes

1) Do you agree to transfer 103 GOLD from the country accounts to Revenue Canada? Pretty standard transfer of funds within the government, not much to really explain on this one. We need gold in Revenue Canada to produce CAD. Voted Yes. Passed.

2) Tax change: Iron. 50% to 45% income tax. This was a screw up by a new congress member who quickly apologized for the mistake. He says he was just taking a look at the proposal section when something screwed up and he proposed the change. No harm though as it failed as it should. Voted No. Not Passed

3) The President of Venezuela demanded a sum of 0 gold from your National Treasury in return to a peace treaty with Canada? We were forced into war with Venezuela through the activation of some MPP back at one point, I honestly don’t remember which one it was, and negotiations began to get one of our many wars ended. Voted Yes. Passed..

4) President of Canada proposed a mutual protection pact with Croatia? Croatia is one of our fellow EDEN members and a long time ally, so we were of course happy to vote this up. Turns out it was quite useful as only a short time later the whole Croatian incident happened, unfortunately despite our help and best efforts, we could not avert the loss. Voted Yes. Passed.

5) Do you agree with the proposal to issue 70000 CAD for 350 GOLD? Money makes the world go round, and that counts for the eWorld too. Voted Yes. Passed.

6) Do you agree to transfer 914 RON from the country accounts to Revenue Canada? One of those random currencies that builds up every so often within our country accounts and needs to be pushed out from time to time. I’ve talked about these in the past. Voted Yes. Passed.

7) Do you agree to transfer 89000 CAD from the country accounts to Canadian Ministry of Finance? More of that stuff going round and round. Voted Yes. Passed.

😎 President of Canada proposed a mutual protection pact with Australia? Australia, one of those old allies that we have been there for in the past, so why should we stop now? Voted Yes. Passed.

9) President of Canada proposed a mutual protection pact with Australia? Not sure why this vote came up twice, but I saw no harm in accepting it. Voted Yes. Passed.

Congress

Speaker. As this is a new term for congress, the first and most important thing that needed to happen was the finding of a Speaker. The debate very quickly came down to only two individuals. Green hawk and Ljsilver. To be honest, I had never heard or seen anything about Green Hawk, while last term Ljsilver was the Deputy Speaker of the house last term, and I was quite satisfied with the job that he did then, so I myself voted for him. It was a very close vote, with Green Hawk winning the vote 20 to 19. In the past 2 terms, I have yet to see a vote as close as this for deciding the speaker. So far, I can say that I have been very happy with the job that the Honourable Speaker Green Hawk has done. I’m only disappointed that I wasn’t nominated for Speaker again, would have made 3 in a row!

Experience Proposals. This has been a debate for as long as I can remember in this game, which is over a year now. The general concept is that every congressman in Canada gets 2 proposals a term to put forward, each proposal and consequent vote cast by a congressman acquires 1 experience point. Those who are in favour of permitting these kind of votes say that not using them is just a waist of experience, while those on the other side argue that we would be using our term in government for our own betterment. My own view on this is that a number of experience proposals should be acceptable, as long as we are careful to be sure that we do not limit our proposal potential and end up running out of them before the end of our term, effectively rendering congress useless. In the end it was voted that experience proposals would be deemed acceptable if they followed a couple of very explicit rules. I can say proudly it was I who took up the torch on this particular issue and drafted the legislation that ended up being accepted.

Supreme Court. I believe I have talked about this in the past, so I will be fairly brief on it. The Prime Minister was good enough to put forward acceptable names as candidates for the Supreme Court of Canada, and congress was given to vote. In the end all those put forward were accepted, meaning that Eldorino, Rigour6, Wilhelm Gunter, and Leps Dissim are now all members of this most esteemed of all courts.

Mock Congress. Personally, I love this idea. The theory is to allow those who have never been within congress, to take part in what is basically a school for teaching those interested in it, what is required and done in congress. The hope is that those who choose to take the course will come out better candidates for congress. I wish I had had the opportunity to takes this course, as it would have saved me a large amount of frantic reading when I was first elected. So to those of you who are interested in participating in this program, talk to Ljsilver as he is the Deputy Speaker, and will be charged with ruling over the mock congress. He may send you off to someone else, but I am not sure who else to send you too.

Other Stuff.

Version two seems to be truly screwed on the economic side of things. I have mostly given you all the information and general thoughts I have at the moment on it in the first paragraph, so I will not bother going over it all again. The only thing I can say at the moment is do NOT PANIC. Don’t do anything rash, don’t go crazy and make any big purchases, none of us, not even the economic geniuses out there can say what will happen. These geniuses know about the real world economy, and in the real world, there are not a bunch of gods floating above us all who can drastically alter everything with a few strokes of the keyboard. At this moment we can only hope it turns out well and hold steady.

Another little note to put into some of your minds, it would seem we are unable to spy on peoples donations. Also with the change in the war module, the tools out there to look up people’s battles have been rendered obsolete, meaning anything that happens from now on we will be incapable of checking up on. This in my mind does not bode well for our, and everyone else’s ability to keep tabs on people. This is a problem sitting quietly right now around the world, but I have a feeling it will break out in a big way somewhere down the line.

As always, feel free to message me with any questions or comments you may have, I am especially curious about the goings on at the moment of V2, as I am sure just about everyone is.

Till next time.

Major, Congressman Etemenanki, Minister of Immigration.

Oh yah, that last title there. With Dades win as Prime Minister, I have been once again offered the role of Minister of Immigration. It was a funny election all around, as I had some offers to be Minister of Justice, Minister of Finance or Industry (So don’t have the time this summer for those last two titles). In the end, I am quite happy to stay as the Minister of Immigration, where I believe I am doing a good job.
