FINLAND celebrates 100 years of independency!

06.12.2017 is the day we here in Finland celebrate independency. Yes this is not yet the vodka pipeline story, btw Finlandia Vodka brand was sold to USA ages ago and that really hurted my soul… Havent checked lately and wont do it for this article as back ground check since its irrelevant.

I am 40+ so I am the generation over here who haven’t experienced the war, but I belong to those whose grandparents seen the war first hand and had to live the rest of their life, carrying the scares of war with them. I remember vividly my grandpa, who did finally told me about the war finally few years before he passed away. I knew he suffered a lot mentally and physically, because of the grenade shrapnel in his body.

I am truly grateful of all those who served Finland (the underdog) and gave the next generations to live in peace and conflict free country. Not going into the influence of USSR and other political stuff that had a hard shadow over us for few decades.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but Finland is the only country in the world that managed to fill the war compensations (WW2)!!! This was actually a great thing since our steel and making of boats prospected. This is the legacy why we build one of the best cruise and arctic ships in the world even today.

Sites illuminated in honor of us! Few local pics as well.

Closing words: When I was 20 I served the mandatory army time and some, 11 months. Because my logic was, if people have sacrificed their lives I can easily serve just for respect.

Yours truly
