February just gone and March just coming...

Day 1,202, 07:33 Published in Singapore Singapore by Parrington

First of all, I will, of course, congratulate Johnnie Danger on his victory in the Presidential elections. I'm sure he will be a great president for Singapore. My commiserations go to Lightofsirius. I've no doubt that this defeat is only delaying the inevitable, which will see him elected President of Singapore in the not-too-distant future.

I will, of course, be speaking to Johnnie about the stuff that's carrying on from my term; I'm looking forward to hearing his thoughts on what Singapore can be like tomorrow.

Anyway, let's have a little look back over the last month.

Domestic Policy

I'm delighted at the progress that has been made this month. I feel that structures have been put in place that will change Singapore permanently for the better. I'm equally pleased that Johnnie is going to support the continuation of the scheme into the next month. I want to say a massive, massive thankyou to Saneth, who has been nothing short of incredible this month. He could not have done more to promote the interests of Singapore, and I'm delighted he'll be around and about this term.

Malaysia

Let's contrast my successes with what I regard to be my one, glaring, failure this month. I desperately wanted to secure a peace deal with Malaysia, and, although I've left at a time where a deal is very close, I'm still hugely disappointed that the negotiations weren't as successful as I hoped. The diplomacy itself has been an incredible learning experience for me, and I hope both I, and my counterparts in Malaysia, can draw lessons out of the experience.

I'd also like to praise everyone involved in Cabinet, Congress, and our society in general. It needs to be said how much you do to make Singapore a great place to live. I've really enjoyed interacting with all sorts of people this month, from the regulars of Cabinet, to the unnamed 2-clicker who removed me as a friend the moment Johnnie Danger became president! Its been a pleasure!

March...

I'm going to be going on a little world tour this month. I might have a go at travel writing, and report back on a (hopefully) varied mix of people and cultures around the eWorld. I'll still be around on irc and the forums, and I hope to speak to you soon.

In the meantime,

Saty Safe, Singapore!
