Farewell, Austria

Day 849, 03:47 Published in Austria USA by stancel

I'd like to move to a more stable country. I am applying for citizenship in the United Netherlands. I hope that Hedera is impeached, and that Austria moves on to become stronger than ever.

I first came to Austria in September 2009. It was a new place. It was a smaller country, and that meant my voice had a better chance to be heard. Even though there was drama, attacks on me, my party, I'll miss being here.

I hope that my leaving will not be construed as me taking the easy way out. I would have been willing to help rebuild Austria, but I know that there are many people who can do that as well.

To Rangeley, thank you for supporting me throughout these times. You were my favorite President. Always balanced, always calm. Unlike a couple of our Presidents. To the rest of you all, thank you for your patience with me and some of my rants. Even if they weren't necessarily as perfect as I presented them, my ideas were meant to be for the good of Austria.

If there was something I could do differently, it would be running myself for President of Austria in December 2009. My birthday is December 5. And that's what I wanted to do, run for President on my birthday. I nominated an outsider, MachtGeil, and that decision was roundly criticized, although MachtGeil later became President of Germany 🙂

To SPeÖ. I was your Party President for a long time. My predecessor was Arthur Reynolds. And then we were called the People's Socialist Party (PSP). I didn't hear from him much after my election, I don't know if he got tired of the game, or if it had something to do with me taking over, I hope the latter isn't the case. But under me the name changed to Socialist Party (SP) and then to SPeÖ (Socialist Party eAustria). I'd like to think I was a good Party President. I tried to do what I felt was best.

Stay strong, Austria. I might come back, I might not. But I'm sure there will still be friends there to welcome me if I do.
