Interesting ideas, but they won't work. People don't stand for congress to fight; they (usually, when there's not a dictatorship) stand to put forward their opinions, to debate and to run the country. Some, especially newer players, would not put their names forward if they are being forced to pay for an MU leader. Others are fond of their current MU, and would be loth to move at the behest of Parliament.

Military and politics are (or should be - take note, Plato, and make changes to this silly dictatorship module) completely separate, with the link being provided by a strong (note, Huey) MoD.

I proposed the MU idea not to make people fight but make the Commons a more independent institution and I can't see how £10 a day is not an financial effort for someone who will organize the entire political activity while keeping an unbiased attitude.

seriously though we dont actually get our congress gold, if a dictator is in command, so a significant proportion of the funding is lost there.

It's a proposal the sum can vary can be lowered, I was thinking at £5 a day when I wrote it, so yeah, this is a proposal only and I'm willing to change many aspects, I am just trying to spark a debate about it.

you sparked a debate, the 10 pound comment was meant to be satirical 😉 the gold comment was actually my debate. if congress dont get their gold, this MU wont be funded, what do they do in that respect? also will their be repurcussions for not following this as we cannot enforce this?

It's a long term goal, the dictatorship will die one day and we will get the Congress gold. You can't enforce it, we can just publish a list of people who kept the gold and their motive to do so. Giving money for the House of Commons will make the institution stronger and the future MPs are free to do what they please, but remember that a MP is a public servant not a privileged guy. That's the problem, people want big rewards but are not ready to do their duty, that's why we need it reformed.

I like the idea.

1. It gets past the stupid 30 limitation on mails (should be at least 50 so that regiments and congress can have threads)
2. Creates a neutral forum goig since eRepublik admin are not prepared to give Congress a Chatroom or a Shoutbox.

It does mess with MU membership and communicating with you comrades.

Thinking on it, nothing really stops a Congress Members from moving between the HoC MU and their own. Its effort, sure, but a doable compromise.

It also serves as a good place to cage our dictator/CP so freeing up the MoD MU for CO. The CP/Dictator do need to be part of Congress discussions for government to work.

There are other options for "neutral forums", such as... oh, I don't know... forums? If inane chat is what you want, make an IRC room. Just a suggestion.

It is an in-game solution to an in-game issue. Forums and IRC both suffer for people refusing to participate. The former because there are almost always moderation issues, and the latter because getting onto IRC is pretty daunting. Both suffer for being outside the game site. Good luck setting up a forum via eReplublik Forums.

You cannot be inclusive if you rubbish the reasons people do not participate the way we demand of them.

If you can do this under dictatorship then lets try it. 🙂

Open the Dictator MU. Sort the congress members into a single regiment other than Regiment 1 so that its easy to spot new arrivals (and kick them as necessary)... that's if I understand the commander interface right.

Hopefully the Dictator MU will become invite only so that congress will revert to the collection of nonentities it usually is.

Good idea, but unlikely to work. Consider a current MU Commander wants to run for congress, Under your system, they'll have to abandon their current MU, once elected.

Off course a Congress shoutbox and chatroom are better, but a wish does not help us now. A MU Commander is an inconvenience. Hand the MU to the 2nd commander for a few hours a day perhaps?

all political debate could be done on the forum and therefore viewable by everyone. and also a permanent record that wont disappear.
