Fall of the Serbian Empire

Serbia's Empire in Asia at an End; Phoenix Pressed

For over a year now, many Asian territories have long been occupied by powers of the Phoenix Alliance, formerly PEACE GC, from Europe. Following the occupation of the United States in the summer of 2009, President Jewitt of the United States coordinated an EDEN-backed invasion of Asia to destroy the Hungarian and Indonesian empires occupying China, India, and much of Southeast Asia, seeking to capture the "Three Pillars." It took a long time, but eventually "Hello Kitty" Heilongjiang, "Lion King" Liaoning, and "Karne Taco" Karnataka were all liberated, but not after changing hands several times and involving some of the most expensive battles in eRepublik history. Yes, the empires of Hungary and Indonesia had been wiped out, but in the midst of this all Serbia, with Russia and Turkey playing supporting roles, moved into Asia and established their own empire there. An empire that has, slowly, been dissolving.

Pushing forward with the new MPP rules that allow offensive alliance activation, the United States has plowed down towards the final Serbian region in Asia, Sabah, and has captured it, effectively ending Serbia's empire and leaving the powerful country only its original European territories. With Phoenix interference in Asia countries at an end, these captured territories will slowly be returned to their homelands, changing the dichotomy of power in Asia. Since China's liberation, it has consistently grown to become a world player and shows signs of continued growth in its power. Furthermore, the rise of the new Pakistani Empire should not be discounted, as its foreign policy goals once it has decided to stop playing with India can shape the region substantially.

In addition to the end of the Phoenix empires in Asia, there are several other events taking place that are signaling the collapse of that alliance. The EDEN-backed American onslaught that ended Serbia's empire is now directing itself towards Indonesia, for the first time threatening the home territory of what was once one of eRepublik's most powerful empires, that had held dominion over important parts of the United States during World War III and the PEACE occupation of North America. Furthermore, a full-fledged political take over of Russia is taking place, backed by the EDEN Alliance, in addition to a PTO of Portugal.

Potential Ramifications
Apart from the Phoenix Alliance in complete disarray following loss after loss, this marks the end of the substantial wars in Asia that have preoccupied the New World for much of the past year. With Serbia no longer needing to focus on protecting its colonies, it will now begin to look at flexing its muscle in Europe again. However, with the potential take-over of Russia and the new threat to Indonesia, as an alliance Phoenix may at be on the verge of being extinguished. Its collapse could lead to a realignment in the global alliance system.

Without EDEN having so many unified goals or facing such a large threat from Phoenix, it is possible that the old problems that have plagued the alliance in the past may be resurrected and lead to some infighting. Furthermore, more regional-based alliances may start to creep up in an attempt to begin flexing muscle on the world stage. The rise of Pakistan and continuing growth of China will also begin to affect global power struggles substantially in the next few months. All and all, however, EDEN has clearly taken the dominant role in world affairs, and the Phoenix/PEACE spectrum is suffering its greatest setback ever. The thing to see now is how long EDEN can maintain its lead.
