Failto And His Updates
5n4keyes
Ahhhh another week of intresting updates by Failto, with news of the economy changes, and more proof that once again, the suggestion part of the forums dont get read.
So were a bit of time now into the recent changes to the war module, people are still divided on the effectiveness of the module, and more importantly, its fun to see how some countrys really fail at passing information on about how the new module works, overall tho it seams to be an improvement, as now War takes a bit of effort, rather than a tank showing up at T-2 and wtfpwning everyone and winning the war single handedly.
Next we have the media module... The update in itself isnt a bad one, I think we have always wanted a better system for the media, but the way in which it has been implemented is, stupid, pointless, and could be alot better.
We should have a top news articles catagory, and have the current divisions but, have them as buttons/tabs, which take you to each catagory. Also readd latest news, etc. This would improve the module alot, and more importantly, make things look a whole lot better, a 5minute attempt in paint picture of what it would look like below!

And then we have the big economical changes, the ones that will solve all our over production problems, and make our economical worrys fade. Except... it wont...
See, what is happening is that raw materials will be split into 5 groups, most countrys for food raw materials will have access to 3 or 4 of the needed resources, and for weapons 1 or 2. The idea is that the higher quality your company, the more different types of raw materials you will need.
But, if we look at this closely, what exactly will this do? effectively... nothing, sure it will have some effect, but not what we need. The problem? You still need the same amount of raw materials, and you still produce the same end products, all thats changing is that its now a little more annoying to get your raw materials, but thats not really problem most GMs will shop around. This update does nothing to solve the problem with over production, infact will make the problem worse, why? raw materials will go up in price, mostly due to lack of competition in say grain, and less companys in the new materials, this will effect product prices, more expensive they become, well the less you can afford to buy. Overall.. just adds a bit more petrol to the fire.
So, whats needed? In short, more products, currently there is really only two markets, Food and Weapons, which is why the markets get choaked, and over production happens. We need more love in other areas, Having say 2 or 3 new industrys, and allowing people to migrate would instantly have a huge effect on the markets, and over production.
The question then, would be, what products? Personally, im a huge fan of an idea I saw on the forums, which allows a country to buy a product that helps it in war, this you could call, an Attack System, which gives a bonus to citizens damage in each fight. Meaning a country wanting to attack could get some nice bonus towards there aim. Reviving hospitals, and housing would be a huge step, but maybe make the housing more affordable, simply by making the life of a house alot less, and the raw material needs alot less.
In short, the admins of this game need to really start discussing updates with the player base, these constant, hey were improving the game for you, mails are great when you read them, but the second you put any kind of thought into what exactly the updates will mean its just insane.

Good article
They tried new products before and failed miserably (different types of weapons companies and even new raw materials - titanium).
I agree the new Raw Materials rules will ultimately drive up price of raw materials.
I can see them rolling back on this change again.
Ironic how they announce these RM changes a few weeks after they offer the cheaper upgrades for companies.
More transparency is required from Admins.
All they need to do is listen to us. But they simply aren't. Very annoying.
Great stuff man.
I find that if you look around there is miles less people reading or seeing important article's now. Like ive seen ones that always got 50 votes drop to less than 15.
Great article Snake, I have to say that I agree wholeheartedly with your ideas.
I would like to see a reintroduction of the old housing system. Having them degrade over time killed the market rather than envigorated it.
Also, there should be products created to add levels of complexity to existing markets. 'Computers' that increase production by 1,2,3,4 or 5% for example. 'Clothes' that improve either your production + recieved work xp or your damage + received training xp. Perhaps even a functioning banking module that adds/removes interest payments.
I just don't read articles anymore unless they are shouted. New media update is very bad.
I think you're right about the economic module also.
the bright side of the change is that moderators couldn't find your article in order to remove it : )
I voted as soon as I read "failto"
