Exploiting party loyalties

Let's get this out of the way immediately before I'm called a butt-hurt Vikta supporta (see what I did there?) I voted for and support Badlands17. With that out of the way I would like to offer congratulations to Badlands17 for what will most likely be a DAP presidential victory.
Now on to business. After voting I saw that Vikta was in the lead, something I in no way expected with the DAP controlling most of the country. I was actually quite pleased that the underdog had a chance in this election even with a coalition of three parties against their two one of which is an extremely new party that has had little chance of gaining support as of yet.
I checked in later to see the Badlands17 had taken the lead by a couple of votes, feeling quite excited that my one vote actually had a chance of making a difference in a very close race, I was immediately deflated when I saw something that had not been there before.
Realizing that they could not win the election the candidate for the Djozikeist Church of Malaysia had changed her avatar to a picture telling her fellow party members to vote for Badlands17.
And while many may say this is not a big deal, I am incredibly offended by this. I feel as though my vote has been cheapened and even made a slight mockery of by this exploitation.
Sure officially joining 2 parties in an election is almost exactly the same as this, but at least its official and not just a cheap ploy to keep out one's political rival after you've realized you don't really have a chance at winning.
It's unfair to the voters who genuinely vote for who they want in office and it's unfair to your constituents who otherwise might have voted for someone closer to their own beliefs.
I'm sure that some people didn't automatically vote for badlands17 just because Prucsok told them too, and I applaud them, but nevertheless I find this tactic exceedingly underhanded. On that note, brilliant use of true-blooded politics Prucsok.

First I would like to say that I am unsure about Vikta's time period for changing avatars, I know I have had it take a day before but I've also had it only take about 15 hours, Around noon it had finally changed after I put a different on the night before. Can we get a sure time for this please?
Next It does seem deceptive that right after speaking with Vikta about being an alternate to both of them, that she very suddenly had a change of heart and sided with Badlands17. I would like Pruscok to confirm or deny this please. Also at exactly what time this exchange occured
Now the only conclusion that I can draw for certain is the same one I already have. She saw that she didn't stand a chance, and decided the lesser of two evils would be the one she supported. Nothing wrong with that. It was the wya it was done that makes it underhanded.

Also the assurance to Vikta that she would wanted to be an alternate sometime yesterday evening,
(yesterday morning to us on the other side of the globe) seems to have been made either immediately prior or even after she had changed her avatar assuming that it took a full 12 hours or so. The only conclusions I can draw are that first: She may not have wanted to hurt Vikta's feelings or some similar sentiment and so didnt tell him. or secon😛
she was pressured into by her own party.

What a wonderful day... Democracy is flourish at FRoSEA.... Badland if not mistaken, will win this election. Previously, I predicted he will lead with slim majority between 1%-5%.. but now its seems the margin is much greater..
Is this just a statement or..
As I said I am equally happy that Badlands is winning I just wish it had been without these dubious tactics. Even though I would like to say that I do not think there was any collaboration or plot involved in this.
Well, thomas, i was expecting a FUP victory. I think it is still early to declare who is the winner. FUP's core consituents - the RL thais and malaysians just got up couple of hours ago. these voters may make a different.
I think we all in FRoSEA should be glad that democracy is rEAL and FLouRishing in FRoSEA. whether it is Vikta or Badlands, i hope both parties can close rank and strengthen the country.

Putting up an avatar does not make you push a button. As voting is anonymus you can still vote to your hearts content, despite of what your fellow party member says.
Also what is the difference between this and putting out an add?
That's why i put the part in about not everybody doing it. But if a party leader tells his/her party to vote a certain way it tends to have an impact, thru an ad or thru an avatar or simple statement. also I have information that I will be adding soon, but its midnight here and im going to bed. so check back around noon tomorrow after my classes are over if you care to check up on it.

Hmm? We suffered a major defeat on the congress elections. And to be honest I thought that Vikta has a lot better chance to win this one. Demographics of the country are changing fast and up until now it seemed like it's clearly favouring FUP.
As for Prucsok pulling out of the race: it's standard practice. And there's nothing unfair in it. She asking to vote Badlands17 is the same as parties officially supporting one candidate. It doesn't force you to do anything.
nagyzee - do we (DAP) know how badlands won it? my personal judgement told me that he would have lost, just judging from the congressional votes stats (and there's no new migration). Hmm. interesting indeed.
Well, turnout of DAP members was probably a lot better this time for one. And I think being the current president probably gave him several extra votes. And he had the support of 2-3 other parties, too.
Remember the FUP didn't get a majority of votes (50😵 in the Congressional elections.

prucsok did not break any rules. Additionally, the election result would not be different if the Djozikeist Church of Malaysia had supported Badlands17 from the beginning instead of starting on election day. Get over it.
no no no. No ban. It is a valid political strategy. People I wasn't saying that it wasn't a smart move, to get a politically like campaign into office. I'm not saying she broke any rules. All I'm saying is that it seems a bit underhanded, but all politics are underhanded.
I was simply reporting on it, because it was news worthy, not necessarily because I thought it was evil or wrong. I was catching a story where there was one to catch. otherwise i'd be writing another congratulations DAP paper that I'm sure there are thousands of floating around.
I felt someone needed to highlight it so I did. It happens in everyday politics and people cry foul but nothing is ever done about it, because its common politics.
I was only taking the role of crying foul. It really is unfair and it is underhanded, but it isn't illegal and it's certainly not worth a ban for doing something thats common place.

You don't need any time to change avatar, it only depends on if servers are available that time you edit your profile. Somedays it goes is seconds, sometimes the change needs days also.
And yes, it's true, I wanted the be some kind of "third choice", but after not more than a half of an hour it could be seen that nobody's voting for me but the top 2 reaches incredible heigths, so I decided for the one side. As former DAP-member it was not a hard decision. 😛
I don't think it would be an unpolite move from me to change my avatar, in Hungary this is a common thing to guide the voters this way but this is just a suggestion not a command 😮

That's totally false. If it works correctly, the avatar changes instantly. And if it doesn't then it doesn't. There's no 24 hours deadline or anything.

What's unfair and underhanded about it? It's very similar in nature to a party officially supporting another on the CP elections.
Yes that was in there before Pruscok answered my questions. before I realized that she hadn't misled Vikta. I probably won't change it and just let the comments explain that this entire article is no longer an issue. And in fact that there is no problem and never was a problem at all. Just miscommunication.
As you can see Vikta was also concerned about this, and so now that every thing is explained and there is nothing to hide, He will bear no hard feelings against pruscok (or so I hope).

I jumped the gun andwas able to find out the truth, and I never lied purposefully. The people have made this paper become truth. That's why I asked for a debate over it. So that we could all figure out together what the truth was. This time it was just a misunderstanding.
This is and will remain a truly "people's paper". The story will continue to be as much in the comments as it is in the actual article.
