Dear citizens of the UK and Europe,
I have been busy at work these past few weeks, very busy indeed. For a long time now, I've disagreed with the motives and actions of the two current super powers, ATLANTIS and PEACE and I feel it's time for a bit of change, for a new era to grace the realms of Erepublik.
I would like to introduce to you all the concept of Europe to Erepublik. Work has already commenced on creating this new alliance and it's been branded the European Social Alliance.
We are still in the very early stages of the alliance but I will promise to each and every reader here, that the ESA will be a brand new type of alliance, one that Erepublik has never seen before. One of our primary goals will be the improvement of all members, regardless of their size, on a huge range of issues ranging from economical, to political and eventually military.
What the ESA will not be is an imperialistic alliance that focuses the entirety of it's efforts on reducing the capabilities of the opposition. Some of you might be in disbelief, but as a continental alliance, we have no need to expand our territory. We have no need to conquer foreign countries, all we care about is advancing our own alliance and each member nation.
Now, you might be thinking, "Oh gee, that's great". That's not all though. Unlike the creation of many, many other alliances, this is not an entirely private endeavour. I personally welcome you, the citizens of the continent of Europe to get involved in the birth of the ESA. Yeah, that's right. We're offering you, whether you're a Congressman, Party Leader, Minister or even a regular citizen the chance to have your say on the creation of the European Social Alliance.

There are no hidden sections, where an elite few make all the decisions behind the scenes, everyone has a say on everything. wow did i get bored with that forum topic about this. shadows main point is the lack of war resulting from ESA..is he right? also, (and i asked this on the forum) arn't PEACE and ATLANTIS still going to be fighting eachother, and does ESA preclude us from joining in any wars as eUK rather than ESA?
- these may be answered on the ESA forum, not yet gone through it yet though🙂

This is currently being discussed on the forums. It's my belief that ESA should remain neutral on all wars concerning ESA members and remain a defencive alliance only. People will of course say things like, "Well that's not possible, ATLANTIS and PEACE said that too". We're not ATLANTIS and we're not PEACE and I believe that a defencive alliance is fully attainable. There are many options we can take to replace wars as they are clearly a huge aspect of the game. Especially as our economies almost entirely rely on war to be sustainable. My favourite option would be to organise fake wars between ESA members, so that our economies remain strong.
neutral on any wars begun by ESA members on non-ESA forces you mean? - if so, that sounds good; but what if an ESA mem is being beaten in a war of its making, would we be obliged to help?
also, fake wars would pretty much solve the no-war issue (if it became an issue, which i don't think it would, at least not while big nations/alliances remain at arms against each other/outside ESA) - but i imagine some may say fake wars arn't the same as real ones (psychologically) but then the main merits of war are economic so surely whether fake or real it doesn't matter.

Wont it be a bit... dull with no war? The super alliances are both ridiculous and exciting, removing the possibility of becoming involved in some super-war will, for me, be a bit pants.

I am fully behind a Europe-wide alliance, and have been advocating this for some time. Great work to Squiddy and the rest of the European leaders who are taking this bold step together. Hopefully it can show superalliances that there is more to an alliance than war!

So, if the United Kingdom, being a part of Atlantis were to invade Belgium for the lulz, and both are in the ESA, then what?
First the eUK, next Europe, then the world.
What a wonderful place this game will be then, all marching to the coalitions (only way to win) tune.
Dish, I can't answer those questions because we have not decided on any kind of official stance for such a situation and I don't represent all of the ESA, or any of it really.

While discussing plans for ESA with European nation leaders, including those from PEACE countries I assume, you are the eUK's representative to Atlantis.

What's wrong with representing both? You suggest we have a separate Minister of Foreign Affairs to correspond with every alliance...?
Squiddy, it's a matter of allegiance. When you come across classified information in either alliance, where does yours lie? You can't sit at two tables at once.
ESA doesn't even exist yet...
So Squiddy, unless he's a timelord, isn't really affected

Excellent idea - what will be the stance of ESA on the coutnries of Europe and nearby currently under occupation - in particular Greece and Israel?

Maintaining our economic strength and maintaining our military strength are both equally useful arguments for this.

Its like being part of RL European Union and RL NATO...one is a primarily economic and cultural alliance, whilst the other is a primarily militaristic alliance. Both can coexist at the same time with very little issue. This can and will work in the eRepublik context!
