eRussia and her story since her independence from eNorway.

Day 417, 09:22 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by MDU Press Office

This is an extract from an interview between Will Salmon and Maksim Chuikov, in order to inform to the British public of the internal politics of Russia before the Romanian take-over. It was the publisher's (Will Salmon) view that Russia posed no military threat to Romania before the takeover, despite the official reasons briefly mentioned in the article 'Checkmate' being: "Russia had to be wiped out, in order to kill the MPP’s...". This interview was part of an investigation by the publisher into the events leading up to the takeover. I deemed it necessary to leave out the most recent events as they are accurately outlined in 'Checkmate'.

What is this ecountry in the East, known by many names. To some it's simply eRussia and to some its the eRussian Soviet Socialist Republic. The price of independence is only known to the who eRussians. I will not be discussing the Norwegian occupation, but I will begin where their iron grip over us ended.

During the Norwegian occupation of eRussia there was one single party in eRussia fighting for her independence. This resistance movement was known as the Red Resistance Front. The RRF was formed of the remnants of the pre-war leading party, the CPSU. When the time came for the resistance war, the RRF was the only organized party at the time, which was able to collectively lead the demolition team. During the resistance war, a new party started to organize itself as well, which would not be heard from before December. This party being lead by a charismatic leader, Smirnoff.

The resistance war was a tough fight for such a small nation as us. We faced resistance from certain eNorwegians who disagreed with Salve's decision. It is here, right after the liberation of our first region, Volga-Vyatka region, when things started to get back on track again. The RRF party, became known as the CPSU (Communist Party of Soviet Union) once again. The nationalistic party, Free Russia lead by Smirnoff started to expand and organize itself as well, but was no match for the Communists at this time.

The Congress was easily secured by the Communists with a 77% majority. Let's discuss the Communists and their program for a while. ERussia is known in the Socialist Internationale as the first ecountry to implement Marxism, in eRepublik. By implementing Marxism I'm not just talking about securing the Congress, I'm talking about a real planned economy which was implemented. The CPSU did not drop their economical and political program, even if it was under foreign occupation for a very long time. Infact, right after the resistance war, preparations for restoring the planned economy had been underway. The GOSPLAN, the name of the Communists planned economy became functional a few days after the resistance war.

It has been claimed that the planned economy was a failure and didn't achieve anything while others have argued that it was the first, successful planned economy in the history of eRepublik. In a way, both of these arguments are correct. Most of the eRussian population supported or at least sympathized with the Communists which resulted in the GOSPLAN working perfectly. You could say that "from each according to ability, to each according to need" was for the very first time implemented in eRepublik and it was succesful.

The Communists number one rival party, the Free Russia party continued to expand as new players started to join eRussia. Old eRussians living in other countries also started to return. The very reason why Free Russia grew so fiercely and later even exceeded the Communist party's member was because of their unique advantage: they were Russians. This granted them the unique ability to recruit new, lonely Russian players to their party. This was only the beginning of their era. Almost every article they've posted have been without an english translation. The CPSU being without Russian speaking members made it very hard for difficult to follow Free Russia's articles. The little that was managed to translate proved no good. No surprise Free Russia's numbers grew so fiercely. They claimed the credit for liberating eRussia, they claimed that the Communists were actually fascists in disguise, they even pushed it as far as to start their "Russification" program. "ERussia for Russians!", etc were popular slogans of their articles.

It was around this time that Fair Russia appeared in eRussia. The president elections were just around the corner and with rumours that this party had massive numbers to call forth to the elections. This action united Free Russia and the CPSU to vote on the same candidate, being CPSU's candidate, Manifesto. This is one of the rare moments when the communists have cooperated with the capitalists for the greater good. This event marked the turning point in Russia's political life, the Free Russia party had grown past the CPSU as the Communists lost their seats in the previous Congress elections because of lack of organization, compared to Free Russia.
