Enduring Labor Values - Building a Stronger and Fairer eAus
StewartB
The Labor Party embodies the continuing pursuit of a society which values our security; champions
fairness and equality; believes in communities and families; promotes social justice and
compassion; supports freedom, liberty and enterprise; and
strives for opportunity and aspiration.
■ We value our nation’s long-term prosperity—achieved through a modern, competitive economy
and ensuring quality of life for all Australians.
■ We value our security—security for our family, our community and our country. We are proud
of our men and women who have served our nation and those who have died in the service of
their nation.
■ We value fairness and equality and believe in a fair go for all—we believe that a nation should
be governed in the broader interests of all, not in the sectional interests of a few.
■ We value our communities and our families. Our families are the bedrock of our communities
which we need to nurture, protect and support.
■ We value our democratic and public institutions, which have the power to address exclusion
and disadvantage.
■ We value compassion and dedicate ourselves to social justice. We believe that it is the
Australian way to work together to help alleviate suffering and disadvantage when we can.
■ We value liberty—the freedom to hold whatever beliefs we choose while respecting those of
others; the freedom to express those beliefs without fear or favour; and the economic freedom
to pursue our own employment and enterprise.
■ We believe in opportunity, creativity and innovation as the basis for individual aspiration and
being rewarded for hard work, achievement and success. These are the Labor Party’s timeless
values and they are fundamental Australian values.
These are the values that have given this great nation of ours its moral compass—not allowing us
to just look after ourselves, but always prompting us to look beyond ourselves. Not just to ask
what is in this for me and my immediate family, but also to ask what is in this for my community
and my country. These are the values that must now guide Australia’s future.

Just two things. ALP stands for union thuggery.
Which brings as to the second thing. Is it at all possible for you (& Mr Awesome) to come up with something more original to eAustralia than the Labour (& Liberal) parties. Heck why not look at party names in other countries or look at our own history.

Thanks for your feedback Mate. Is appreciated. ALP is MY choice and will pursue it as aligns to my RL aspirations. People will join or not, time will tell.
@AW: The word "union" is mentioned nowhere on the article. Check for yourself, you're the one to mention it, not Stew.
And as for a "original" party name, the way I see it is this: A party should have a name that reflects on the values of the party, this makes it easier for players looking for a party to find one to join. That being said, they should be able to call it whatever they want, it's their party 😛
@Stew: As it's also been mentioned on the forums, I think I should mention it here as well (just so everybody can see it 😉 ). What makes your party really different from all the rest of them? It seems to me (and Iwarrior1, the one to bring up this topic) that these values seem to be "common ground" among all the parties in eAus, so what makes the ALP any different?
"Our families are the bedrock of our communities
which we need to nurture, protect and support."
We have families in eRep?
Are you going to allow same-sex marriage?
Pre😛 I believe we have families. I consider people who help me in Eureka part of my extended family and also Alias136, Bobius and Maverick Goh are like my brothers as we joined around the sametime and grew up together in the Game. Corny Ratbag could also be considered my eRep Father as took me under his wing at the beginning.
As to same sex marriage I am all for it. Love is Love.
DA: What makes us different? Well as to the platform yes it is common ground that I hope most Political Parties would aspire to. What will make us different will be how we go about achieving these ideals. Our party will have a very strict structure and code of conduct for our members. We will also have clear roles and responsibilities for the senior members within the party. We will release more in our forum on the details once it is available.
We will also release our policies for public comment and hold some commmunity focus groups. We also plan to engage charity orgs like AuseAid and The Smith Family to have input into our policies.
@Derek : I was attempting to illustrate a point. When you take the name of a real, prominent party operating in RL Australia, you're going to massively reduce the number of potential members, both with people who don't like the real world version & also those who won't associate themselves with a real world party. Plus if you do something differently to the real world version, the few that would join could well be offended.

Personally I can tell you that if I wanted to join a real world party, I'd join it. I have a decent opinion of Stew but putting a real world prominent name there is something I couldn't align myself with.

Finally putting real world prominent names to parties risks sending more real world problems here. We have enough of the Serb vs Croat, 3rd World vs USA, Nthn Ireland Catholics vs GB etc here. I can't see anything good coming out from using either Labour (ALP) or Liberal here.
Btw : Same gender issues etc have no importance in this game.

I Agree with DA. This is practically what all other parties represent. Would you mind emphasising what you have that is different then others?
AL: You have some very good points , yes there is a risk of bring real life prejudices into the game. VP and I thought about that and we know it is going to be a challenge. However we want to try it and actually hoping we can show how in the game we can be more successful then the RL version. Still hold to the same beliefs but approach our members a bit differently and with more young people joining the party hopefully tap into different idea's of what ALP SHOULD be. Remember game is about experimenting. If we succeed or fail in the senate or CP it is not the point , the reason we are doing it is to understand better our own beliefs and how we turn policies from TALK to ACTION.
Broa😛 Read the comments under Pred's. Additionally the other PARTY's do OFFER the similar views. Our big difference will be more around our DELIVERY of the ideals. More detail to be release soon.
The ALP stands for democracy, fairness, equal rights, and everyones opinion for the betterment of our country, Australia, to fight for these things as a collective body where everyone is involved, and all have their share, not just the tiny group of individuals, or the individual, which deal with Australia.
Stewart has said it perfectly. We are different from other parties because we will voice loud and clear what our stance is, we will act on it, we will listen to everyones opinion and move Australia forward, through many mediums. This is e-republik we are, an organisation that will always fight for democratic representation of everyones ideas and everyones opinion. Many parties in e-Australia fail any standard of democracy, and if that is acceptable in the creation of a better e-Australia, then god save the queen (literally).
I hope the ALP stands up for the workers!
I hope it shall defend the Australian way!
I hope it shall maintain the tradition of smoko's, sickies, strikes for 'safety breaches', the right to wear wife-beaters to work, wolf-whistle any female walking past a construction site, direct promotion from ACTU president to the Labor Ministry, and of course the right to call strike-breakers "scabs!"
Hear, hear!
