Today we have the opportunity to cast votes in the eUK Congressional Elections

Why should you vote?

Two answers to this one:
1. For the eUK: Votes demonstrate the active strength of the Nation, the more votes the better
2. Each vote you cast earns you 5 XP

Why should you stand as a candidate in the Congressional Elections?
Because if you get into Congress you gain 5 GOLD

What determines the number of Congressional seats on offer?
The number of seats are determined by the number of regions at 02:00 on 23rd of each month. If this number is between 4 and 40 then 40 seats will be allocated. If the country has less than 4 regions then the number of seats is reduced; if more than 40 regions held, additional seats are allocated.

Which Parties appear on the ballot?
Only the top five parties (ranked in order of active members) as at 23:59 eRepublik time on 24th of the month are included on the election ballot sheet.

How is the 'Batting Order' for each Party determined?
The Party President of each Party has the opportunity to re-rank the candidates from his/her Party on the 24th of each month.

If you want to join Congress - How to do it
The only way to get into Congress is to get onto the ballot list of one of the top 5 parties. In order to maximise you probability of getting elected, it is probably best to select a Party which has historically gained more votes than they have candidates.

What do Members of Congress do?
Congress get the opportunity to vote on motions proposed within the House. The motions fall into two classes:
1. 'Official' In-Game motions, these are:
a. Donate Gold or GBP from Government coffers.
b. Issue new money (in return for GOLD)
c. Change VAT & Import Taxes
d. Change Work Tax
e. Change minimum wage
f. Propose Presidential Impeachment
g. Provide Citizenship to immigrants
h. Propose Natural Enemy
2. 'Unofficial' motions - for items of policy that are outside the in-game motion scope. Votes are counted and then results promulgated by the Speaker of the House

Can you vote if not a member of a Political Party?
Yes - any ADULT citizen (holding more than 50 strength) or higher are eligible to vote
