About an hour or so ago. I received a message from the Acting Minister of Media and Culture, India, Shaz. Where he told me about a project of his which he was starting in eIndia and asked me if I could publish the article in ePakistan as well so that more and more people could take part and have fun. I went through his article and I simply loved the idea. So here I am.

Cricket and everything connected to cricket is something we (Pakistanis) share strongly with Indians. The passion for cricket. The unbearable desire to see our country win. Those long debates on cricket matches. Those pretty names which we bestow upon our players 😛 We share it all except perhaps the teams itself. But that problem has been solved with the formation of IPL in which we shared even the teams with the Indians. And it is about this that shaz wrote the article and the reason why he contacted me. Here goes the origianl text of his own article:

He is organising a new season of eIPL. And he'll be the organizer with the help of one of the best cricket simulation and management games.



1. There will be 10 teams of RL IPL franchisees.

2. Team rosters is the same as real life squad. (To ensure the ease of organization. If this version is successful and I find enough participants, will look forward to auction the players in next version(!))

3. Secret bidding for the teams will be invited once enough participants show interest to take part in the eIPL.

4. Bidding will start at the minimum of 500 INR and with no upper limit. All the financial transactions will be made clear and will directly go into the prize pool alongside my contribution of 2500 to 5000 INR. Will add if I get further fundings.

5. As you know the real life IPL rosters, be smart to bid bigger for the better teams or gamble and bid for dark horses.

6. Bidding will be in this format -->
a) Bidding party name and co-owners if any
b) Bidding amount
c) Priority list of the teams:
example:
i. Mumbai (MI)
ii. Bangalore (RC😎
iii. Kolkata (KKR)
iv. Pune (PWI)
v. Hyderabad (DC)
vi. Punjab (KXP)
vii. Rajasthan (RR)
viii. Chennai (CSK)
ix. Kochi (KTK)
x. Delhi (DDD)

7. In the above example if Bidder X bids the amount of 1250 INR and Y bids 1175 INR with same order of priority and Z bids with 1300 INR with Rajasthan at (i) then the bid of Z is evaluated first and is given the team Rajasthan and then Bid of X is evaluated and given Team Mumbai. Later the bid of Y is evaluated. BUt as Mumbai is taken up by X with higher bid, the team of (ii) priority is given to Y and so on....

8. You can partner with other citizens too and form a franchise to bid. No restrictions on eNationality, but the bid should come from the head of the franchise only. If complete details of the partnership are furnished, the prize amount is either given up to the head or divided and transferred to the co-owners, as per the request.

9. After the bidding is completed, 24 hr time is given to send in the name of the team you own in case you want it to be changed. Failure of which, we'll retain Real life franchise name in the tournament.

10. A chance to cure the pitch of home ground will be given to the owners. Depending on strengths and weaknesses of the side, prefer to change the pitch conditions as you wish. (Details will be furnished later)

11. In league phase, each side will play other 9 teams once at home and once away. So, total 18 league matches per side. Top four will qualify for semis and then it is knockout with two semis and a finals. Finals will be Eden Gardens. Kolkata only!

12. Daily 2 matches of a team are simulated and the news is constantly updated via this newspaper and a blog will be setup to view the progress of sides at any time. So, total of 10 league matches per one real day life time.
13. In 10 days roughly, the tournament will be finished.

14. Prize pool division:
25% - Winner
15% - Runner up
10% - Semi-finalist 1
10% - Semi-finalist 2
30% - to remaining 6 teams with 5% each
05% - Best Batsmen (team owner will get it ofc 😛)
05% - Best Bowler

Total 100%

15. There's a guarantee of returns (at least some amount) even if you stay at position 10!

16. Match details and complete scorecards will be uploaded to a blog for transparency.

17. Participants from all over the eWorld who know IPL and it's format are welcome.

18. 4 foreigners in playing XI is present as it is.

19. Computer AI managers will manage your sides and I've no control of any sort. So, think wisely while bidding and go for teams as per your plan.

20. For ePakistani citizens, I'm sorry, I've no control in this version to include RL pakistani players in the tournament. However, in future versions if any, I'll check out the possibilities of player auction and inclusion of players from around the world.
