The Worlds Forces Part 1 - Mercenaries.

Ever since war became present in eRepublik, people have sought to profit from it. No-one more so than the gun-toting mercs that offer their military expertise in exchange for payment.
Some of them will fight for the whoever is the highest bidder, some will prefer to retain a sense of moral obligation.
Either way, if a force needs re-enforcing, eRepublik's mercenaries are there waiting to fill the gap.
Being a merc often gives warriors far greater experience than simply fighting in wars for their country and allies. For that reason mercenaries, though fewer in number than the other forces profiled, are among the toughest, most experienced fighters around.

This reporter has been in touch with some of the most famous mercenaries around, here's a little about them and their forces.

First up is Alucard Bloodlust, the first eRepublik citizen to attain the military rank of General.

Alucard Bloodlust:

I am a part of no group. I have no fixed allegiance. my group is whoever is paying me. I am an individual mercenary, and the most powerful, and most successful of them all!
I have had too many military successes to choose one over any other, but I do have several favorites, which include:
-killing 34 Norsemen in Russia singlehandedly in one day
- securing all of South Korea singlehandedly against the Japanese military and their allies on that same day
- Slaughtering Nave Saikiliah multiple times
- Slaughtering Dishmcds multiple times (-Ed Dish informs me he's managed to strike the great Alucard for 84 damage with no weapon, although there may or may not have been a bug involved!)
- slaughtering 48 Greeks in the Turkish war

And I fear no force! BA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!

Next up - Final Destiny - Leader of the Spears of Destiny. Final Destiny is a former eUK president, and currently resides in the newly 'free' Ireland, where he's currently a member of Congress

Final Destiny

Tell us a little bit about the force you command.

The Spears are fighters for Justice! Of course justice doesn't come cheap these days. We are a small group that decided we wanted to go out and put sharp point sticks in people that don't pay soldiers very well. Our numbers vary depending on who is available at the time. Some members are busy in a Mayors Office or as Members of Congress. Their identities are secret of course.

What (if any) are the pre-requisites for becoming part of the Spears of Destiny?

None but we do trials for new members those that perform well according to the Elder Spears are welcomed into the society. The ones that don't make it are free to try again later of course.

What do you think is the spears greatest military success?
To date I guess we don't have many. We have fought in South Africa and Sweden alongside the UK Paratroopers. I'd say Sweden as we was on the attack but our Ratios were still pretty damn decent.

What part of the spears are you most proud of?

The command structure. Though it's still in the works.

Who/what is the force you most fear coming up against on the battlefield? Why?

No fear for a Spear. Any Spear shows a sign of fear we use them as shields while we charge into massive armies. Though I hear Benn Dover and his motley crew are pretty tough.

Finally, we have Benn Dover, formerly a prominent political figure from eUSA, Benn's other distraction, being a Q4 weapons GM gives him that little something extra to offer employers.

Benn Dover

Tell us a little bit about the force you command.
I personally don't have a "group", or "command", but I do have friends in high places. In the past those friends and I have, together, gone to countries and merc'd together. These citizens include...

Uncle Sam
Emerick
Rusty Randy
Cj Will Win
Joeph Cole
Franco (ThisGenMedia)

Others that have recently wanted to fight with me have been Daphne and FinalDestiny, but we haven't really planned much.

What (if any) are the pre-requisites for becoming part of [your group]?

There aren't any pre-reqs, but I don't like to accept random citizens. In a recent article of mine (http://www.erepublik.com/company-1367.html) I have asked if anybody wants to join my ventures, and in that article I said that I'd prefer you to be in the high 5s or 6s, but that's not set in stone - Joeph Cole is a 5.46 corporal, but that doesn't limit him. If somebody who I've never met before asks if they want to join me wherever I go, then I'd say no, regardless of strength or rank. I would take the time to invite them to the US chat and talk to them so that I could get to know them better.

What do you think is [your groups] greatest military success?

Well Emerick, Uncle Sam, and I were among the strongest in Turkey during the Balkan war. We amassed nearly all of our wins there and managed to take over several Greek territories, so I guess that could be considered successful. Since the people who fight with me are international, we don't revolve around one country. Instead, we usually just go to other countries and offer our assistance. Normally we'd send PMs to both country leaders and military-higherups, but because of the Peace GC and Atlantis alliances, it's been difficult to not be hated, being a US citizen and all 😛. Currently the Romanian group FAR has hired us to help take out Hungarians.

One thing that I can promise as a businessman, not a mercenary, is Q4 weapons to whichever country I merc for (I own Guns n' Stuff, which has around 40 employees). Romania and Portugal have both bought me export licenses and we agreed to sell weapons. This just adds onto the bonuses of hiring me for your country - Uncle Sam too.

What part of [your group] are you most proud of?

I'm most proud of our attitude towards war. Sure we want to profit, but it's more important just to have fun and get experience. I can't speak for everybody who fights with me, but that is the attitude I have about merc'ing. I respect players from both alliances, including mercs, domestic fighters, and freelancers, and I feel that if everybody were this way, then war would be less dramatic. That mentality is one that I've developed through my 9 months of gameplay.

Who/what is the force you most fear coming up against on the battlefield? Why?
I think that eventually, Indonesia is going to declare war on either Brazil or Argentina, opening them up to even more countries in the Americas, but this is not a fear. I do not have any fears when it comes to anything regarding war or military. Sure it might be a challanging fight, but that just makes it more interesting, not scary ; )
