Dear readers,
yes i am talking to all of you, belgiums and dutchies alike. We pretend we are democractic, but are we truly? Without trying to cast a vote or pick a side i want to analyze the current name change, which isnt very democratic if you ask me.
First of all there obviously isnt the choice if we actually want the name change, nope we HAVE to change. That is the first weird thing in my eyes. So why not add the option to keep the name to the list? Because that takes away the name vote to the people who want to keep the name. Just imagine this, the options are Name A, Name B and Keep name.
60 vote for A, 50 for B and 50 for keep name. Means name A wins... BUT what if those people that want to keep the name would have all chosen B if they had to change? That would mean 100 of the 160 voters would be against name A, not very democratic if you ask me.
Ok so people get to suggest names, i like that. But why is it that 3 names get picked just like that? How will it be picked, who exactly will pick it and which criteria will be used? If its my 8 year old brother we will get to choose between: eCool, eStrong and eUber... Oh yeah, i know we all want to choose out of those three.
Again i would like to point out that i am not trying to say which option is best (even though i DO have a thought about that), i just think that the whole process now is flawed and possibly unfair. I am interested in hearing what you guys think about it.
Thank you,
Crell

agreed. voted!
be cool! vote eCool!
But yes, true. It was part of the BP programme and now we're suddenly forced to a change. I kinda like eUNL and hope it will be one of the options.
I also agree. Changing the name (on the forum only!) is just a waste of time.
See you at the next name change, coming month.
And the month after that en then again.
The government has spoken yesterday about the name change.
The current name will be in the choices citizens can vote on. So it is not decided that the name will change. And of course to change the name of our nation a majority of more than 50% is needed for the new name.
How the names will be picked the Minister of Home Affairs can inform on that.
Nice clear article!

Some people debate together and make a coalition programme.
It was say that Eunl can be chosen by citizen!
BP never try to change the name without a majority on that. But many people react too late -2 week after coalition programme was given to all- or to quickly- before we can propose 3 name- in which one will the current name.
THAT is the truth!
but THAT isn't known by other people
It is not my intention to condone or condemn the coalition programme. This clearly is something that a lot of people want to have a say in, so a referendum as was proposed is a very good option in my eyes.
I do however question the process of how this is done. Just by reading how it is done i have my doubts, and i support those with some examples. Regardless of who is doing the changing this should be done in a correct way and not just forced upon us or seem forced upon us.
I do care what the outcome is in this and a lot of people do. If the outcome is something i do not like, then so be it... But only IF the process of coming to that decision is correct, and i dont think i stand alone.
No Kixtart, but they can't react before or after.
What are we seeing? People becoming mad!
Some people prefer listen fool than trust the government.
Yes, we have a problem. And it's not the BP or the government!
If the people do not trust the government, then it is not the peoples fault. Dont forget that the government serves the people. Ignoring the people, now that IS a problem. Im not saying that that is the case though just yet. I am just pointing out something i worry about. If it is something that i do not need to worry about then it should not be hard to show me why i do not need to worry.
Just hiding behind 'the government is not the problem' is a weak excuse. We the people have the right to ask these questions and the right to a decent answer.
BP has not been mentioned in my article, and is in no way related to my statement. I am not saying that they are innocent nor that they are guilty, that is something for a different article.
