eCanadian NHL Playoff Pool

Day 515, 19:25 Published in Canada Canada by BelatedDeath

Ya, this isn't about eRepublik, so please forgive me, but what self respecting Canadian doesn't enjoy the sport of ice hockey(no offense to non-hockey fans)? Hockey is what built our glorious nation to what it is today (to some degree). A NHL game, what words could describe it? Energizing, invigorating, SUPER SPECIAL AWESOME? The game of hockey fuels our heart to pump harder in the chest of us all, even I, a mere child, who was not born in this country, and only been exposed to it for a half-decade.

Although my precious Leafs, how to put it delicately, SUCKS ASS, i still enjoy the rush of seeing Brodeur pulling the puck from thin air , Crosby streaking like a arrow down the ice, and Phaneuf, flattening a forward that was spending too much time admiring his own pass! And no more can the games be more entertaining than during the Playoffs, where rivals are reignited, and fans with face paint scream for their team to disembowel the opposition.

Now proud Oilers, Senators, and Leaf fans such as I cannot fully experience this excitement. The last year the Leafs got into the Playoffs was when i was in grade three, when I was screaming with disappointment when the Flyers, in game 6 of the eastern semi-finals, scored on Eddy in overtime. That was my first year watching hockey, and I tasted blood! I could not wait to see the Leafs reign victorious over the who NHL to break their horrid 42 year drought.

But alas, it has not happened, and now Oilers and Senators join me, but at least they made it into the finals in the last few years.

For all fans of Hockey, there is an opportunity to join in on the excitement of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, with a Playoff Pool. To join, sign up at the CBC Sports - Hockey Night in Canada Hockey Pool! Registration is easy and free, and soon you will do battle with your fellow Canadians to see who can predict the top scorers of the round. Round 1 entries are unfortunately over, BUT on 2:00 PM ET on Monday, Apr. 20, 2009, the entries will be open for ROUND 2 of the Playoffs.

To keep our fellow eCanadians' score in check join the group eCanada, just earch the E section for it. The password is "bruckinator" in respect to our current Prime Minister, whom I hope will support, and participate in xD.

Please read the Rulesto figure out how to play, but I will summarize it now:

1. In each round, only the surviving teams' players are eligible for you to choose. For example if the Penguines get knocked out in the first round, you can no longer choose Sydney Crosby as a pick.

2. You must pick 12 players: 3 forwards, 2 defencemen, and 1 goalie from each conference.

3. After picking your 12 players, they are your players for the whole round after the deadline ends, regardless of whether or not they get injured.

4. Each player has a "salary" on your team of 12, the combined salary can not exceed 30

5.Scoring System:
FORWARDS/DEFENSEMEN

1 point for each goal and assist

GOALTENDERS

2 points per win, 1 extra point for shutout.
In your team you will designate 1 forward, 1 defenseman, and 1 goalie as your "star" players, meaning any points they get during the round will be doubled.

6.The person with the highest score by the end of the entire playoffs will be the winner of the eCanadian Playoff Hockey Pool.

I am willing to donate 2 gold to the eCanadian winner of the eCanadian Playoff Hockey Pool. Ya I'm poor, any player is welcomed, and donations are even more welcomed.

Lets make this the best Stanley Cup Playoff ever, and hopefully faith will follow us, by granting a Canadian team the CUP!
