E-LIFE TIMES. THE CODE OF CONDUCT FOR DUMMIES!

Day 1,772, 02:41 Published in Pakistan Serbia by Shin Gouki

Dear eCitizens of ePakistan,

A matter of conflict had arisen due to one of our much recent article focusing on the "previously concluded" national debate. The protocols of journalistic ethics have always been practiced and advocated by eLife Times. We firmly believe in the below mentioned protocols and we practice what we preach.

Humor

Definition: (noun) The quality of being amusing or comic, esp. as expressed in literature or speech.

According to Wiki, "eRepublik is a free-to-play massively multiplayer online game, web browser game developed by eRepublik Labs which launched on October 21, 2008 and is accessible via the Internet."

We all have hard, stressful and demanding lives. Some of us are students, others are professionals and some are lazy good for nothings. Regardless of what you do and how you do it. eRepublik is an experience which for a period of time separates us from our RL grievances, problems, etc. We promote humor and we will promote it to our very last day. Don't expect us to be serious just because you fail to take this as a game.

Journalism allows us to practice the freedom of speech. Unlike most mediums and media groups, we integrate humor with our articles, However, we remain within the thin line of the following practices that may be deemed offensive.

a.) Religion: We do not target a person's beliefs. Religious humor of any sort is not tolerated by the eLife Times. Islam promotes and advocates religious tolerance. We do not troll someone based on his/her religious believes.

b.) Sexism: According to us, both sexes are not equal, but superior to one another when viewed with different perspectives. We do not target a specific gender or reflect gender inequality.

c.) Race: Stereotypes are a part of the world. We tend to generalize and create stereotypes. Being a media group that caters to people of this world, we do enjoy Stereotypes. However, there is a thin line we wish never to cross which would ultimately cause hatred and discrimination within the eWorld.

d.) Misreporting: We do not misreport or misinterpret events when the nature of the article is "Factual". Our readers must understand that there is a difference between "Statement" and "Opinion". i.e. If a car is red, we won't say the car is "BLUE". We may however express our opinion that the car is red, however we don't like "RED". When an article is written, people with the ability of perceive and comprehend words can make out whether the nature of an article is "Serious/Factual" or "Humorous". If for any reason a reader has comprehension issues that is not our problem.

Our policy on "Trolling".

The term "TROLL" generally reflects to harassing an individual or a group of people, offending them and provoking them off topic. We believe that when we do troll, we "harass" or "offend" or "mock" someone due to a specific reason. Irrelevant and out of context mockery is a waste of bandwidth and data storage. We appreciate the efforts made by eRepublik and the expenses they bear to keep these servers up and running. We don't want to "waste" this precious space by cracking jokes which make no sense and are out of turn.

Freedom of Speech

As mentioned earlier the limits within freedom of speech have been previously mentioned. The ePakistani constitution has given us the right to be free and we will practice this right to its fullest. We don't favor a group of people and target others. Your actions and your stupidity is what will invite us to target you. Learn to get on with the program. We will focus on Government Performance, Individuals, Businesses, Alliances, eNations, MUS. You name it, we will practice our right to free speech as long as it benefits the national interest of ePakistan. Without her we would not exist.

Having mentioned the code of conduct and how we practice things. Most of our readers finally understand how eLife Times works now. You also have to remember that being the press director, eLife Times is a separate entity, my professional obligations to ePakistan are separate and my individual character within the game is separate. Hence don't blame SFQ for an article on eLife Times, Don't blame eLife Times over a constitutional amendment SFQ (The Senator) made and don't blame SFQ (The Citizen) for the all the trolling. Let the journalism, politics and personal issues remain separate.

I hope this article helps clarify our position and our ethics and code of conduct.

Yours Sincerely,

eLife Times

On a separate note, there was a discussion between the CP Mohammad Bilal and I regarding who to share humor with and whom not to. Being a part of the ePakistan's Senate, I will choose to keep my relations with all eCitizens professional. However, being an individual, I advise my friends, my citzens and everyone who interacts with me to mention in the comments whether you will tolerate the humor and the type of humor I practice. If you want to have friendly terms and a relationship based on everything friendship stands for comment. Those who clearly state that they don't wish to share a humorous relationship will be ignored by SFQ the Citizen and only be replied to within my official capacity as whatever post/job i hold at the time.
