DNS - Durius, melius, citius, fortius. (JosefStark's manifesto)

Day 324, 04:02 Published in Sweden Sweden by josefstark
DNS is an old party with an equally old tradition of being resolute and at the same time kind-hearted. It has always been a party consisting of active, thoughtful members and that is the greatest pride of DNS, and that, above all else, is what we keep closest to heart; our members.

So, who am I then?
I am a man of many things, if you will. I joined Erepublik eight months ago and I immediately started a newspaper (this one), and together with a friend I set up a moving company where he was GM and I worked, so I’m both a seasoned journalist and an experienced worker in the moving industry. I put a lot of effort into making a name for myself in the media. I took critique, made amends, took some more critique and developed further. After five months of Erepublik I had still not joined a party. I wanted to be politically independent to keep my credibility as a government criticiser.
I also founded the e-World’s only Sunday coffee club for intellectuals; Hypogeum, along with my bearded brethren. We established The Swedish Nobel Prize (which was a huge success) and we are still running it. (Only a few days left until the revealing of this edition’s honourable laureates.)

Then, when Sweden’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cain, retired from his post, I wanted to realize one of my greatest goals here in Erepublik. So I signed up for the competition and I ended up as Sweden’s new MoFA, and I still am. Then I decided that I actually had to join a party now that my political career had begun, so I carefully spent time considering which of the parties in Sweden fitted my views and opinions best. When I finally read about DNS I knew it was right. I felt the party could teach me a lot, and I wanted to be a part of the friendly atmosphere.

I did learn a lot in DNS. I experienced hardship, treason and tears, but I also saw success, heroic devotion and a lifetime’s worth of laughter. DNS taught me many valuable lessons and now that I look back on it I can without regrets say that it is such a precious and fine party to develop in. The individuals’ warm embrace makes every effort you put into it worth it ten folded.

Not so long ago some sad events took place in DNS, many of the great enthusiasts within the party had left, I had also left a short time before that to regroup myself. But the supporting pillars where gone, and in a party where individual souls are the mainframe, that brings great destruction upon the party, and that was what happened. The structural integrity of DNS became so damaged that the party seemed to be imploding on itself. I felt so much guilt. When finally Trisen called upon what little aid I could give, I could no longer stand by and watch as my old party met its own demise.
I returned and was designated as the party president until next party election. This is where we stand today.

I quickly probed and pondered frenetically to get a clear picture of what the situation demanded of me to save DNS. I concluded that something had to be done, very fast. I mustered everything I had learned ever since the beginning. I evaluated the critique, as I have learned in my early days as a journalist. DNS had to free itself from the shackles of IRL-based ideologies. Our politics has to grow from the game in which it is confined. We have to transform DNS into a properly functioning political apparatus. Reassess all the variables in the game and how they can be operated. We have to find out in what ways and by what means we can influence the course of events and decisions in the game.
These were some tough decisions for me to make, but they had to be made.

I called for a party meeting which took place this Monday. There I presented what I had perceived and what I concluded, everyone agreed and we decided that we had to work together to do this.
One of the questions that arose at the meeting was if we would become, like FBS,” ideology-neutral”. The clear answer was “no”. We have no intention in doing so, we want an ideology, but it is an ideology that has yet to come into existence. We will, by undergoing radical change, build a new ideology based on the principles of Erepublik, I have named it “E-Deology”.

What are our current standpoints?
Since we are literally on our knees, it’s rather difficult to define our policies, but there are some fundamental beliefs and values that still remain. We have all agreed on keeping the individual, its rights and responsibilities and the communication between people as the key points in our new policy.

• We welcome all members, regardless of background, be it Danish, German, Polish or any other.

• Activity, dedication and participation in our party meetings is greatly encouraged. Everyone is expected to have their opinions heard on equal conditions. We will make sure that our meetings are properly carried out to ensure that.

• Congress members from the party are elected through candidacy and election, and they will be a committed and active addition to the Swedish government.

• DNS will advocate an appropriately working and efficient congress. Resourceful division of tasks and assignments is promoted.

• Gaining contact and maintaining a healthy dialogue with foreign nations, with the governing party as well as the political opposition, is vital.

These are the mainstay ideas so far, the foundation you could say, views around which we in DNS all can come together and from there discuss the furthering of our policies.

Having all this said, disclosing my intentions and giving a short background story, I hereby declare my candidacy for the post of party president in DNS.
These are the decisions made so far:

•We have accepted president Flammbar’s request to form a coalition government with FBS and MSAP.

•In the issue SHOULD GERMANY BE FREED? in Riksdagen the answer from DNS’ congress members was a unified YES!

•The political orientation of DNS has been revised and changed from “center left” to “center right”.

•Finally I made a new logotype for the party which now has replaced the old one. My thoughts around it, along with additional comments can be found in [DNS party forum].

I have put up so much effort and soul into this to just let it slip away and not going all in. I assure you, as the party president for the coming mandate I will sail this ship to port and save her from the abysmal void that we came so close of falling into. But there is a new epoch dawning for us just over the horizon, and that’s where we’re heading.
I will take what I have learned through experience and through teamwork, and by tapping into the intellectual source that is so prominent in our dear party we will create something new, something grand... Something worth fighting for!

Join DNS and experience the spirit of true enthusiasm and devotion!
