Disenfranchised in Norway... Again!

Day 214, 00:33 Published in Norway Norway by Sasha Igorovich

For the first time since becoming a citizen of e-republik, I did not vote in an election.

Why, you may ask?

It was not because I did not go to the polls. Nor was it because I lived in a region where no one had been nominated.

I did not vote today, because I had been disenfranchised. Stolen from me was my right to vote for someone who I believe shares my political ideas and values, namely freedom for Russia and a free market economy.

How did this occur?

A couple of days before the party elections, several members of the RRF suddenly joined my party, United Russia. They succeeded in electing a member of their group as our new party president. A few of them even immediately rejoined the RRF after casting their ballot for the United Russia party president in the party elections.

Our new party president claimed that this change in leadership was a bright day for Russia and the party. He claimed that he stood for freedom for Russia and opposed tyranny, especially the oppression of Sasha Igorovich (although he himself could make no legitimate claim of having ever been victimized by me since he had not been a citizen of Russia while I was President, and had only been a member of the party for a couple of days before he stole the party presidency).

But, I ask you now, who are the real tyrants?

After seizing control of the party, our party president at the last moment removed all of our candidates for today’s local elections. We did not field a single candidate in today’s election, even though we had five on the ballot as of yesterday evening. This is why I say I was disenfranchised, because as I went to the polls today expecting to cast my ballot I was alarmed to discover that there was no one from my party on the ballot, and thus no one who shared my political goals of freedom for Russia and a free market economy.

If there was any doubt about the RRF’s actions in the United Russia party elections, they have been removed today. Our party was hijacked and hostilely taken over by agents of the RRF.

Why would the RRF do this? After all, as they are quick to point out, United Russia is a party that is smaller than theirs. Why would they target a smaller party that does not even have the right in Norway to field candidates for congress or the presidency? The reason lies in the fact that while I was still party president of United Russia, I maintained that the RRF did not represent all of Russia’s citizens and therefore did not have the right to act as the sole voice for the Russian people. In addition, I had suggested a proposal for a bicameral legislature that would give the smaller parties a chance to have their voice heard on the national level. The RRF repeatedly claimed that since they were a larger party that they did have the right to speak on behalf of Russia. But try as they might, they could not claim they were the only Russian party, and other leading citizens of Norway were even taking up this point. Their solution was very simple – seize control of the opposition party and hopefully eliminate it, or at least silence it. And this is in effect what they have done through their treachery. When I went to the polls today, I discovered that the only candidate for mayor in my beloved Yekaterinburg was a RRF member, so I reluctantly chose not to vote. Now that the RRF has control of both parties they can claim that they, and only they, represent the voice of the Russian people and they can insure that no Russian from another party gets elected.

I denounce the RRF and its agents in the United Russia party for their blatant attempts to deny a minority voice in Russia their freedom of speech!

I denounce them for their violation of robbing a citizen of his fundamental right to elect an official who shares his political views!

I call upon the other citizens of Norway to join me in denouncing the RRF and its treachery!

I call upon the Norwegian congress to carefully consider the RRF’s actions and to prosecute their party leaders as well as the RRF operatives currently in the United Russia party.

I call upon the e-republik admins to investigate this situation for any violations of the e-republik rules and to ban all guilty parties.

And I call upon my fellow Russians to unite and rise up against the RRF, who by their actions these past two weeks have shown themselves to be the true tyrants and oppressors of the Russian people.
