Battle of Podolia
After using Slovakia as a land-bridge through Ukraine, Hungary managed to swap through to Romanian occupied Podolia and has now begun an assault on the region. With many strong MPPs stacked against Romania, the outcome of this battle looks weighted heavily in favour of a Hungarian win.
If Hungary do win, they will once again be in possession of high iron, which they will hold on to tenaciously. As was recently seen in France, Hungary will only return their allies home regions after charging a ridiculous amount of gold to do so. As high iron is on the line, Hungary will either charge in excess of several thousand gold to return the region (an amount which Ukraine could not possibly afford in V2) or they will hold it by force. And thus, Hungary will once again have the chance to become a world super-power again.

Ireland
The United Kingdom has once again launched an attack on Ireland, hitting Dublin and conquering the territory. With EDEN and Bro interests split between Podolia, the Croatian ATO and the Polish campaign in Asia, Ireland could be on the receiving end of some real punishment over the next few days, which may not be a bad thing, as being wiped would be an easy way to erase the MPPs stacked against them. However, this would involve Ireland losing their territories in America.
Croatia
Today is a very important day for Croatia. Allied ATOers have turned out in their thousands to save Croatia from Phoenix PTO. So far, Allied ATO efforts appear to be far superior to the PTO efforts.
Central Croatia was also taken back today. Hopefully over the next few weeks, Croatia will be back and stronger than ever.
Asia
Road to Liaoning
As predicted in the Day 987 edition of The Gimmick, North Korea took advantage of the chain-reaction war method to swap Poland into China.
Phoenix have attempted to stall the Polish advance by creating resistance wars in the land-bridge regions of North Korea, which prevents NK from retreating the regions to Poland.
However, this will only slow down the Polish advance for a few days at best. Poland will reach Lion King, and when they do, glorious battle will ensue.
And horses will be ridden against tanks...
South America
Mexican Theatre
The Spanish-Brazilian war continues. After Southeast of Mexico was secured by the resistance force of Mexico, Spain attacked and took the region. Brazil countered with a push in to the Gulf Of Mexico, before the battle of SeoM ended, which was successful.
The Brazilians continued their push in by attacking the Northeast of Mexico, which interestingly borders the United States.
Spain counter-countered with an attack on the Gulf of Mexico.
Meanwhile, a resistance war opened up in Central Western Venezuela. This RW was successful, and removed the Brazilian border with Mexico. The final Brazilian occupied region of Venezuela, Venezuelan Andean, is now also under RW attack. If this is successful, and Spain can remove the Brazilian presence in Mexico by eliminating them in the Gulf of Mexico, it will then be possible to swap Italy back in to Mexico, where they will be safe against Brazilian attacks.
Peru-Bolivian War
This one has me scratching my head.
After Argentina took Bolivian Altiplano, I assumed it would be them who would go after Peru's high iron.
Bolivia instead attacked, then swiftly retreated.
Peru then countered, attacking Pando.
And...that's it. I have no idea what's going on here.

Having a smaller Croatia would make the 25th go easier but if we win big enough today it might not matter too much.

Brazil created on hell of a land bridge for the US to get to South Africa.
If they took the canaries, that would work. As is, we would need to punch through Colombia.

but remember more regions croatia has it will have more congressmen. so it will be more difficult to defend congress from serbs and huns.

More regions could mean more Serbs/Huns/PHX could slip in, but still, it's only 3 regions atm. PHX may very well be releasing them leading up to congress just to throw some spanners in the works.
